A buddy is looking at 88 292 with twin 454s. Boats in great shape from the picture. What are the pros and cons? Were are the bad spots to look for in this hull? Thanks

Great boat, huge 29fter, pretty sure ive seen the one your talking about based on your location, check the usual things that you would on a boat this old, I'd be more concerned with any issues from saltwater, good luck

If you are talking about the red/black/white one it's in good shape I know they have had problems with the exhaust that runs through the swim deck (on all formulas) other than that the boat is really clean. If it's the one I'm thinking of.

I am no expert but in my opinion its still a buyers market. Also I have a friend that used "POPyachts" to try and sell his boat, they mark their prices high due to the fact that they get 20% of the sale. Again I am no expert but I think you should be able to get the boat in the price range of $15500-$18500 just depending on how it looks in person pictures can make anything look "new". Also if you are your buddy has anyway to deal with owner of the boat instead of "POPyachts" you can get a better price due to the fact he wont have to pay them 20%. Let me add that the low end price could be anything depending on the true condition of the boat.

Good looking boat, newer drives, but it looks like its sat in the water. Drives are discolored and you can see water lines in the gel in the pictures. No hydro steering, and no external tie bar.
Looks decent tho, price accordingly depending on how it looks in person.

I would be a little concerned with the aluminum intakes on a marine motor as well as what looks like carb upgrades. Make sure they are marine carbs. Also I would verify these are true mag motors not hopped up 7.4's. 454 Mags have really good internals and are a great motor to build up, but the standard 7.4 not so much.
The exhaust tips on my transom had loosened up and the gaskets were blown out on the silent thunder platform. It is a decent sized project but far from impossible to correct. I would shake the tailpipes inside the boat and see if they feel loose, if so the platform has to come off to fix that.

Casey that boat has been for sale for quite awhile. It is located in Baton Rouge. Looks like it is a pretty well taken care of boat. For the right price it would be a great boat. Like it was said though..... it does look like it sat in the water some. He would definantly want to make sure the transom is solid. There is also a 272 with 10 hr old twin 350/Alpha's for sale out in Central also. That boat is in great shape too. One samll soft spot on the floor by the passengers seat pedistal though.
