Question 91'242LS Prop

Have 23 Hydromotive IV on 242 Formula. I spin 4800rpms on a fresh 502, well now a 510, and run around 59 to 60 gps with boat 3/4 to full on gas. Am I in the ballpark with the prop that is on the boat or should I be looking at something else? What props have you seen on this boat. Hell how do I start to figure what prop I should have? Really havent started to comprehend slippage!

Just my experience..
I have a 1990242ls now with a 540
The 23 4 blade rpm is close. What is the peak rpm of the motor.
When I had a 454 mag in that boat, It was faster on the top end with a 3 blade mirage plus 23 pitch. See if you can try one. The 4 blades hold better in rough water but a 3 blade is always faster. Your rpm will increase by 200 rpm also. 4 blade props always rob you of 150-200 rpm
Proper prop is always a trial and error process. just have to find out which one is the best overall performing.

Actually belive it or not I picked up a labbed 23 Mirage late yesterday, but notice its Sunday morning and I am on my computer. That means that I am stuck in cubicle hell, want get to try it till wed. I feel a sick day coming on. Isnt there some sort of law that says if you own a boat you dont have to work weekends???? Thanks for the info!

jrocket, yes there is such a law. It's called the Law of Diminishing Returns.
