Suggest you check the position of your trim-in limit spacers in the outdrives. See what 4mulafastech wrote here: http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/p...ml#post3838961

What top speed do you see with the 26's?

I agree with Expensive Date. I had a 2007 292 and installed new exhaust (Stainless Marine) and it helped big time, it lightened the engines about 190 lbs. We boat at Lake Powell most of the time, and use the same props at Powell that we use in the Phoenix area. Lake Powell is 3600' elevation, and does take a little longer to plane out. I think the exhaust will help more than the props.

I had Formula change out the Corsa exhaust tips with baffles to Corsa tips with no baffles on my 2012 Ilmor 382, and it sounded great. Formula built my current boat with the straight tips too.

Here is the 292's hole shot after the stainless exhaust was installed, the lighter exhaust helped.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSbp8QIKNBA This is at Lake Pleasant Arizona, 1700' elevation.

In the salt i have seen 70. Fresh is 67/8 any weekend. Like i said i am in my limiters. The lab 28s do the same speed but with less rpm.

Like a Kid with a stock 5.0 Mustang with Flowmasters telling a Porsche owner his car sucks cause it won't do a burnout like the Mustang does..

I'm still not sure what prop drop I need for my elevation. Formula says 24Ps for 5000 ft. on up. Will try to contact bblades for another opinion, seems 28Ps are for sea level.

Any other 292 suggestions for improvement besides K planes or full hydraulic steering?

I'm not going that route until I know this is a keeper!

My 292 has 6.2's (340 hours) with stock exhaust and I turn labbed 28's. Just a couple weeks ago we were LOADED down with 4 adults, 4 teenagers, 3 coolers, etc. and she planed out just fine. I'm at 470' elevation, have 280S K-Planes and changed my trim-in limit spacer to allow the drives to tuck in a bit more. (See post 11 for link)

I would think a nice set of labbed 26's would work for you best overall. Might take a little bit to plane out at 5000', but will be better cruising and faster top speed than 24's. You will likely be all over the rev limiters at lower elevations with the 24's. Good that you are planning on contacting bblades, he will definitely get you set up correctly and tweak your props if needed. Just make sure the engines are running up to par and nothing else is going on here. Good luck!

Well that is a little harsh... Lol!

About the only thing I would recommend to Formula is to have hydraulic steering and K-Planes standard. Makes the 292 a whole new boat, both safety and performance wise. Other than that the 292 is a great mini-offshore package!

You're talking out of your ass. There are cats and V's with 2100HP that have an incredibly hard time getting on plane. So much so that aeration tubes are added to allow the props to blow out to get the revs up.
