Default 311 sr1 questions

Hey guys I have been looking at a deal that may go through on a solid 311 hull it's an 87 with no power etc but the price may be too good to pass. Who here has had one and are here any peculiarities or known issues i should look for or problem areas? Boat was complete till recently and like I said I'll be repowering it if I end up with it. Just checking to see how solid they were.

stringers, bulkheads and of course the transom. like all boats they are prone to aging and with out proper care they develop issues. The interiors need care, rigging gets scrambled over the years. I took everything out and put it back in again

I just got one myself transoms where a problem not only where the drives are but also check the silent thunder swim platform if it has one . Stringers and bulkheads . Check under the cabin step it's hinged . Also from info I have found the gasket under the windshield goes bad and water can leak in where the screws but it doesn't show on the headliner. Good luck and keep us posted

Also formula liked to put foam under the cockpit floor to insulate the gas tank and the foam would hold water

But they are great boats they are heavy I think the 311 weigh in at 7800 lbs but a guy on here said with stock 454s she will do 60 and they where built for ruff water . Also you can contact formula directly there Tec support is second to none
