My dad lost his ancor the one weekend. The next weekend we were cruising down the river and you hear a ching, ching. He stops the 57 Coronado and doves off the back of the boat. He hit the rope of the old anchor with his own prop. Luckily the line was 150 ft long.

It took all the strength I had once to pull up the anchor. I figured it was hooked to a log but it was some kind of giant homemade fish trap or something. A big waterlogged box covered with screen. I also got a free anchor once too.

Plus one on the power cable. 30 years or so ago, hauled in the power cable to Fishers island N.Y. when leaving a little sandbar called the flat hammock with my 22' Mako. Thought it was a freakin sea serpant at first! Used up a " dumbass cheats death" card that day. Saved the anchor tho.
