Jon,
Give it to Dave and let him fix it...you will get back next Spring all done and ready to roll... :thankyouthankyou: Then you just have to do this....Bring it home my brother...:Score-101010: |
Dave and I talked about it but for me the drive and time off work was the killer and Dave is way to popular of a guy for me! I could not wait that long. I will probably in reality wait longer!! LOL I hope to have it ground down this weekend and ready for Plexus then glass guys next week or so. Weather is brutally hot right now so hopefully but Friday it is either cooled down some or I can get my shop cleaned out enough that I can get it in so I can work in the AC!

I ran out of problems and it's perfect....that is why it is in storage. :)
Well that is one way to hope it does not break. |
Trying to motivate to get out and grind away today. About 90 degrees out so not the greatest day to have to sand but I have to get this thing done!

Rounding the corner and about to head for home. Trying desperately to get the boat to the part that I can shoot Plexus into under the strngers and fill the voids and then bring it to the fiber glass place. Has been quite a project and I wish I had more time because I would be way ahead of were I am but some times that is life when you own your own company. 90 degree weather and grinding is so much fun. 2 T-shirt changes a day. Some pictures later have to run my son to get his football gear.

This picture is with all the plexus removed from one section (there are 4 that need to be done.
At some point it is very hard to get into the smaller areas with the large grinding wheel so a chain saw works well if you are careful! After using the power planer you get something like this. Then you have to grind. I found that turning the 7" wheel with 36 grit paper was the best way to go once you get the plexus down as much as you can.. it still takes a lot of time but works well. If you keep the wheel spinning slowly it does not melt the plexus. As soon as you turn up the RPM's you get smoke and clock the paper. This is when it got real sketchy! I could only get the grinder in so many places and it would not take out the Plexus fast enough. So I opted for this stupid set up. That is a 6" saw blade on my buffer! Kind of along the idea of Daves Lancelot wheel but I found this if you used the blade on its side it would take out a good amount of material when you kind of back dragged it. When I tried to get it up under the stringers some times it worked fantastic other times it kicked like a mule. One time I lost control and the trigger stayed on that sucked but lucky for me I had all body parts in another bay. |
As it sits now I have some detail grinding to do and then I have to get the engine bay completely dry and clean. I also have to figure out how to get any debris from the under side of the stringer flanges. Then it will be plexus time and then off to the fiber glass shop. I figure I need about 2 hours of grinding and maybe 2 or three of cleaning. Plexus should go fast but I have to check the bottom of the boat to make sure it is still strait.
