Now I'm a little hesitant to buy it haha and unlimited.. You said it's not an 87?? What year do you think it is? And why don't you think it's an 87?? Anyway I can check to see what year it is besides the title or registration?

Looks newer than an 1987 as stated by others, good power plant and looks pretty clean but I would definitely talk him down a bit. It is obviously difficult to give a true judgement with only looking at pictures. Be sure to go into the cuddy and look underneath the step to see if it is damp or pooled water. Additionally, is there paperwork for the engine? Is gear included? Title for trailer? Salt or fresh water? $9,500.00 is a good point to start negotiations just given the information you have already stated. I am not a fan of bottom paint but to each is their own. I would start at $6,500.00 to see if they are willing to play, only if it truly is a solid hull.

'87 Formula HAS Curved glass, I have one. All '87's were Alpha drives both BBC and SBC. May want to check S/N on drive/gimble for details.
Good luck. |

87 was definately curved glass but with Alpha drive. They are great riding boats but there are nicer ones out there for the same money without bottom paint, just fyi... Just gotta be patient. I bought mine for 9k and it was absolutely pristine, just took a while to find. the cracked hatch on that isn't a huge deal, but keep in mind where the hell you gonna find another? Just a heads up, 242s are snails to get on plane, so run a 4 blade. Also you will HATE those sit down bucket seats. Sits you down way to low and in the way if you wanna stand up. Other then that they ride amazing

ABSOLUTELY, 242 are tough to plane, I put a 4 blade stainless on it and the stern 'popped' up fast. also I agree about the seats, too low and in way when standing. I suppose you could jack it up.

The seats work out well for me however I am only 5'9" 170lbs. I did wish they were up a bit high, like a flip up bolster or something. My 223 loves the 24P Bravo 1.
so I got a 21p 4 blade turning point stainless and very happy, great for heavy loads didnt loose much on top speed and its just a better all around prop for that 242 hull. |
My mistake on the flat to curved glass change over. Thanks for the correction. But at least I was right on the drive and paint combo lol
