Has anyone tackled kplane cable replacement on a 272? I'd like to place an order for the cables and don't have time to pull the cables this weekend to get the exact lengths. I was hoping someone knows the length for each side.......port side is shot and figured I'll just do both while I'm at it.
Thanks in advance!

Look around the last 2 feet of the cables.
The numbers printed on the cables equate into the length in inches.
I replaced ALL my cables on my 272 and 3/4 of my 419.
It is typically a 2 man job. But with patience, you can do it by yourself.

Only one end of the cable is marked. IF they are the original red jacket Morse cables.
Remove the drive and tab indicator from the dash, pull it out enough to get the numbers.
Tab cables could be clamped with the shift and throttle cables. So plan to crawl into some tight places.

My recommendation is do not pull out the cables to measure them.
Get the length of cables off the ends. Buy new cables and have the new ones ready to install. Remove the rubber cable seals. Remove the cable seal at the KPlane transom plate Use heavy twine to tie the new cable together with the old. Have about 3 inches between the new and old cables. Tape the cable ends so they feed through tight places without hanging up. When pulling the old out, you pull the new cable into place.

Thanks for the tips......already replaced the throttle/shift cables last year so atleast I know they aren't bound together. Hoping that cuts down the drama on this job. Anyway.....took off the nut last night on the trim tab, pulled out maybe 2ft of cable and no markings. Going to try the indicator end today. Not looking forward to that.....its tighter than tight working in the dash area. Not sure what's worse, crawling around the big blocks or working in and around the dash. If only I was 25 years younger ...lol. Thanks again, really appreciate the info!

Anyone know what sealant is used on the seals? Thought they would have gone in without any...as you can see, there is something on the one I removed.
