Default 353, 312 Insurance in Florida - Need advice

Hello All,

Im in the market for a 353 or 312 Formula. I started on insurance quotes but some these quotes are CRAZY!!!!!.

I recently got a quote for 353 in Miami, Fl for $7800. I have a clean recorded, no claims or loses. As it is the 312, I am finding for $2500. It is still high but not understanding why and what I can do to get into this boat. I would love to get the 353 but at the insurance cost of $8000 yr. this is crazy.

Can anyone provide some insight as to what I might be doing wrong?

When I asked the agent as to why is the insurance so high I get comments of "Because I am close to Cuba, it because a high risk for human trafficing". This sound like a lot of BS to me!!

Any advice that can help

Thanks

I have a 353 insured with Allstate in Southern CA. Insured value $120K on the boat and $20K on the trailer and it is $1,600.00 per year. A more expensive boat would cost more.

You all need to check out American Family. Several boating friends turned us onto them. They wont insure to much over the 525 engine's tho.. Pulled teeth to get the 382 with 525's threw.

2- 33 OL's , $380 and $600 a year.

Good friends new to him 382 with 525's, and new trailer $800

Thanks 92nx,

Just tried giving them a call, but they do not insure in Florida.

Any others?

Florida has the highest theft and highest collision so it would be expected that the insurance down here would be higher than anywhere else in the country. My 28zx with whipples was quoted at $5k by Progressive for the superchargers, ended up with a great deal from All State for less than half that and I priced the boat around $50k too.

Wow this is crazy... Progressive $4800, All State corporate off says limited to 34 feet in Miami, they told me to call local All State Agent , they said they are limited to 26 feet.

This is crazy, any other companies?

Thanks

Do you have the number to your agent. Maybe I can go with a 312 instead.

Thanks
