What timing module # are you running? Some have a limiter built in.

Redneckcustoms13 04-10-2017 06:48 AM

If you remember I had a v8-22 that bit the dust. I now have a v8-20. I know there are 2 versions of v8-20 but I'm not sure which I have.

Redneckcustoms13 04-10-2017 07:17 AM

And ofcourse no trip is complete without pictures.

I just find it strange you get the same WOT RPM with a 19" and a 23" prop.

Redneckcustoms13 04-10-2017 07:24 AM

As do i. Im thinking like I've said before it acts like it has a Rev limiter.

TomZ 04-10-2017 07:38 AM

I'm having the same issues with propping my 311. WOT goes to the limiter with 23 Mirages. I just picked up a set of 27 Mirages off my buddy's Cigarette. Going to test them out to see how she likes 'em.

Redneckcustoms13 04-10-2017 07:39 AM

Wow. Hopefully those will do the trick. Are yall enjoying it so far?

TomZ 04-10-2017 07:51 AM

Absolutely love the boat! After our Chesapeake fun run at the end of the month, she goes into dry storage (storing her at my home is a real pain). We're planning to use her a lot over the Summer!

Redneckcustoms13 04-10-2017 08:05 AM

Glad to hear it. I'm trying to get my ghetto shed put up so I can keep this one out of the sun and rain. The cover does a good job but not as good as a roof and walls.

Redneckcustoms13 05-08-2017 08:36 AM

Had a good day out yesterday. Finally got to use the anchorshade. Definitely the best $115 invested in the boat.

so jealous you've been out. mine is still winterized and the outdrive has to come off yet.

Redneckcustoms13 05-09-2017 08:54 AM

Still cold?

bbender785 05-09-2017 08:56 AM

it's gotten down into the 20's the last two nights, daytime high's have been 50's-60's the last few weeks. i've been too busy to even start on the boat project unfortunately.

Redneckcustoms13 05-09-2017 09:03 AM

Ouch! I found water in my cabin Sunday morning. Not happy about it. After all day on the creek I had a little more. People in and out all day. Main reason I pulled the cockpit carpet. Going to re seal all around the fuel tank access panel and deck screws this evening.

ph1971 05-10-2017 03:48 PM

Water can run from the rear (under the motor) to the front through the drain if enough water is in the bilge. I keep the stopper in that drain under th step and havnt seen a drop in there since. I also pull the drain plug on the ramp incline and let everything drain completely. I hope you dont have water under the floor because thats all bare plywood in there. Please share how your silicone job goes. Mine is starting to look ****ty and I could use some tips

Redneckcustoms13 05-10-2017 03:55 PM

Cutting it out at we speak. I never have water in the bilge. This is the first time I've have water under the step. And like I said it was after a rather heavy rain. The cover wasnt stretched tight so the floor in the cockpit got wet. I've found a few spots that the silicone wasnt secure anymore so I'm almost certain this is the problem. Not to mention it was clean clear water that was almost drinkable. Our rivers are brown lol

Redneckcustoms13 05-10-2017 04:51 PM

New silicone is laid down. Its supposed to rain friday so I'd for some reason the cover lears we will know if it's fixed. Right now I have the rear bench out due to the silicone job. Might go ahead and cut the holes for the speakers.

For the most part its a very simple job. Razor knife cut both sides of the joint, then pull it out. I then took a shop vac and a wire brush to remove the rest. Laid the new bead down and let her sit.

Redneckcustoms13 05-11-2017 06:28 AM

For anyone that thinks I cannot spell, it's the tiny keyboard on the not so smart phone that's messing me up.

TomZ 05-11-2017 06:54 AM

Sure....

TomZ 05-11-2017 06:54 AM

LOL

I have the same problem. Stupid smart phone!

Redneckcustoms13 05-12-2017 09:21 PM

Silicone is good. Everything is dry so far. The boat was about 80% covered by the shed so it's not an accurate test. Really want to make sure it's completely dry and happy before I "test" it. I dI'd discover that my cup holders have blue lights in them that aren't hooked up. May get around to connecting those in with the cockpit lighting.

Redneckcustoms13 05-17-2017 06:13 PM

Finally got all the speakers. So im gonna start cutting in the rears tonight.

Redneckcustoms13 05-19-2017 06:45 AM

Laid down the masking tape. Drew out all the holes. Got one cut and the old jig saw blade broke.

Those 6 are in. Hopefully tomorrow can wiread them and mount the amp. Still waiting on 2 more to arrive.

Redneckcustoms13 05-26-2017 06:31 PM

The stereo shop still has 2 of the 6.5s on order due to rockford sending the wrong set 2 weeks ago. However 6 of them are mounted, amp is mounted. All wires ran, going to have a total of 8 running on a 2 channel rockville rxm-t2. I decided since I'm waiting on 2 I would connect only 4 of then to one channel so I connected the center 4 in a series/parallel so eight now it's got one cbanner running at 4 ohm. It's 400 rms per channel at 4 ohm so it matches the speakers rms. They sound very much like anticipated (since I have these in all of my boats) these 4 seriously jam. I can't wait till the other 2 show up.

Hoping to head our early in the morning to hit billy bowlegs for the day or possible weekend.

Redneckcustoms13 06-03-2017 10:44 PM

Went down to billy bowlegs and got bow legged. Had a great time. Saw 2 larger formulas both 323s if I'm not mistaken(ginormous cabin type boats) and one really nice I'm gonna say it was probably a 36-38' twin big block boat. Other than that a bunch of baja, a few fountains, lots of big boats and center consoles.
I will post pictures tomorrow.

She decided to warm on up a little more than normal Sunday morning so last night I dove into the bilge and Changed out the raw water pump and cleaned the pieces out of the cross over hose that leads to the oil cooler. (Thanks for the help over the phone Mr Gary!)

The 22p bravo is in the mail. Crazy, I found it on craigslist in ohio. It's off of one of the 3 Aronow 47's. It once belonged to a member on here back on the late 90s.

Hunter, If it is from Macomb it is left hand rotation. How's the water temp?

Redneckcustoms13 06-15-2017 10:32 AM

He has 3. 2 left hand one right hand. I haven't put it in the water yet but I will know Saturday how it does.

Got the prop yesterday. It was dark with hard water stains due to sitting in Lake erie for a while. A little lime away, sos pad, and mothers polish and she's as good as new. Ofourse I polished it while hanging out and grilling on the houseboat last night. Today weather was cap so don't get to run it yet.

Weather was nice yesterday so I ran it. It's very similar to the revolution I actually think the revolution does better in turns but the bravo cruises roughly 1-1.5mph faster(38-39) and got 63 on the top.

Redneckcustoms13 06-23-2017 08:18 AM

Trim senders came in yesterday. It's hard for me to understand why the instructions that came with them, and even the mercury books for alpha and bravo drives instruct you to remove the drive and rotate it to one side. This took me less than an hour to do by myself. Including crawling in and out of the boat 6 times to turn and wheel and trim to adjust the limit switch. I guess they don't have access to a 1/4" drive extension and universal joint?

This said, the instructions stated bravo should be set at 21 3/4" center to center on trim cyonder when the limit switch kills trim up. That seems low to me. Is that accurate? I have it set at 23" right now.

i set my limit right at 21.75 last weekend and started to get u-joint howl when trimmed all the way up at WOT, for what it's worth.

Redneckcustoms13 06-23-2017 08:47 AM

I go by how the boat feels on my trim not necessarily by the gauge. But your saying at 21.75 you can trim all the way out to there and the boat will have bearing howl? I suppose I'll have to run mine where it likes the trim beat set at when cruising and shut down then measure the cylinder length. Just looking at it on the trailer 21.75 looked low. Like I'd still have a lot left on the table.

i do as well. i kept trimming up get the rpms and speed up with this Bravo 1 prop i'm playing with, and reached the trim limit before i passed the point of losing speed. i'm pretty sure it's the u-joints though.

Redneckcustoms13 06-23-2017 09:14 AM

Hmm. I've never heard a u joint howl I just trim up till I see the rims jump and can hear it starting to blow out and bump down a click or two.

bbender785 06-23-2017 09:21 AM

same here. as determined in my other thread i'm overpropped with the 22p B1 and can't reach that point, but that's my method with my normal mirage+ prop (which i never ran fully trimmed up for longer than that quick moment of blow out).
