Son of a gun! I didn't know Formula made a 242 like yours. Very interesting.
On a factory tour, they claimed that Formula tried to stop making the 242 for two years before they finally did; the dealers simply would not allow them to stop.
To me, the 242 and the 311 are two most popular "got it right" boats Formula ever made, with the 330 and 400 SS fighting for that status. Time will tell.

It originally came with a pair of Mercury Black Max 150's right on the transom. I added the bracket.
I'm not sure how many 242 Sport Fish outboards were ever made. I bought this from the original owner 5 years ago. He said he saw another when he purchased this one from the dealer that had a pair of 200 Johnson's on it.

“With all the right stuff to bring in the big ones.” Classic brochure text right there. I don’t know how many 242 sport fish models they made but I can say I have never seen a 25 pc. I wonder how many years that was offered. I like the Pepsi can in the cup holder... as if. Everyone knows Formulas were built for running Coke. Looks like a cool sand bar up there in Va.

We simply call it New Point.
I actually laughed out loud about "runnin' Coke"

Just some FYI for any one considering upgrading . The 242, 272, 292, 311, etc models of the 1980's-90's were/are total wave slicers. The Sun Sports of the 1990's-2000's not so much. Much flatter hulls and not as good a ride as you might be used to from your 242. I went from a 1991 242SS to a 1996 330SS and the ride was totally different. The 330 has only a 20 degree hull and pounds a bit. I noticed on the current generation of Sun Sports, Formula has increased the deadrise a bit.
If you stay in the FasTec line, no worries.

That SF is growing on me. I wonder if it could handle twin 300s... I'd be down like 4 flats with one of those.
25pc. I've seen 2 in person. I kind of debated on one for a leave it in the creek loafin boat for the weekends but havent yet.
