Had a hard time seeing the timing mark but thought I had it at 10 but all in all had a great first trip!!!!! My wife and I went up and down the river for a couple hours. 45 minutes each way out to the ocean. Plugs and wires this week and find a better timing light for the final tune
What prop you have on there?

2800 rpm? seems more than prop. Did you (engine NOT running) remove flame arrestor, full throttle, and check for the secondary's are wide open?
What did you set as "all in" timing?

Sounds retarded. They have a nice timing light at Carquest with a tach on the screen so you can do it all from the back. Great to hear that you got it off the trailer. Like Glenamy said look for secondaries to open and for a squirt. Rear bowl may be empty.

For sure get a light with the digital delay setting and a tach.

Hi guys. I believe it’s a 21 pitch mirage. Last numbers are 21. I’m going to put new plugs and fuel filter in hopefully tomorrow and the time it. This tome when I timed it I only had a non advance timing light and the mark was hard to see. Going to paint the mark white as suggested and use a better light. I’m sure it’s probably a timing thing. I’m also gonna by to check the secondaries to make sure they are opened up fully too. I will let you guys know what I find and as always thank you

So today I re timed the engine. It’s definitely at 10 degrees at idle now. I’m pretty sure it was way off before now that I could easily see the timing mark this time. Put new plugs and fuel filter in. Couldn’t get a set of wires. Checked the secondaries and they are open all the way. Still couldn’t get my hands on an Advance timing light but it’s running good. Have to put in the water again and test it. But hopefully I can get my hands on another timing light to set advance timing. Trying to get it ready for a decent length trip on Saturday.

Thanks O’Connor. It was rough on Saturday so didn’t get to open it up but seems like I’m only getting about 3500 rpms. I believe the prop is a 21 pitch mirage. I was only able to base time the engine as I couldn’t get an advance timing light. I also changed the ignition module from a v8-24 to a v8-22 as that was all I could find at the moment. I’m sure that’s all playing into it and will keep trying. It’s getting better each trip
