Default 400ss Formula outboard conversion...

What’s everyone’s thoughts on doing this? Really giving this thought to do this on my 04 with 525s. Def would do at least 400 trips possible quads. Biggest thing we see for the project would be manufacturing a bracket.

Love to see one. Was almost in a position to do it last year. Fountain has at least (4) 48's that have been converted.

We bought a diesel 400ss last year and noticed while shopping that nearly all the gas 400's had very recent "new outdrives". That told me I did NOT want Bravos! (as it turns out I had major engine problems due to the previous owner and re-powered everything!). FWIW: We cruise about 38-40 mph getting about 1.4 mpg and diesel is alot less expensive on the water than gas.

For sure can be done. SCX uppers would be cheaper.

Have any of them ever failed a lower?

Blown 540’s and arnesons would be my route with that budget. With some of the leftover money the platform could be extended to cover the props. I don’t know what to do with the other $75,000. Gas grass and ass?

I'm with Hogie SCXs-
Love mine- 700++ Hp and NO issues. ALOT cheaper than 3-400s. and you still have a swim platform. My02
Probably 35K max for conversion. What's that 1/2 of a 400 lol

You could do uppers for as little as 20k.

Only issue with OB conversions is that I’ve never seen one that was reconfigured to use the extra space you could get.

That is the problem. It would take major internal work to make the engine space useable.
