Default Gauge Panel Wiring

Good morning Formula family.

I’m adding gauges to the 311 so I pulled the panel and ended up with this:

I knew it was pretty bad, but I Was absolutely shocked at just how fubar’d it was until I wanted to start putting it back together.

I’ve gotten the spaghetti somewhat figured out, though there are still some oddities that do not match the schematics.

What’s the best way to rig this up? Thinking I will split into two systems versus the rat’s nest that the gauge harness was before.

Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

Separate it into left and right sides and just take your time.
I was greeted to something similar when a friend thought they would help get the project started and take the dash apart before i got there...never labeled anything! Once you can figure out which side of the engine the wires go to it starts to just slowly fall into place

And that’s why I don’t let anyone else touch anything without me there! Man, that’s about the same as what I started with.

I’ve got the engine sides split and know those harness colors like the back of my hand. Fortunately, those were replaced when the MPIs went in. It’s the cut/unknowns of the boat harness that bother me most.

The gauges I’ll split left and right and then create subsections for power/ground, lighting, and signals. I have weather pack and larger deutsch connectiosn that I can use.

Anyone know what light gray with brown and/or purple stripes go to?

Thank you Gary!! Sometimes the obvious is right there in front of you - you get so wrapped up and forget to check the basics.

So far…

- Windlass wiring (harness shared with the PC and unused)

- Windshield wiper wiring (again, harness shared with the PC and unused, obviously lol)

- Docking light wiring (didn’t come with this option)

Some wires cut. Others have heat shrink covering. That’s what threw me off on some.

Again, many thanks for sharing, Gary. I have a similar sheet… next to me in my wiring bag. D’OH!
