Default Looking for Helm advice

I am looking for a new helm and steering cable for my 1993 303 SR1. Not sure how long I am going to keep this boat, probally 2-3 years, and don't want to invest in hydrolic.

Was hoping that someone took all the new parts off their boat and replaced it with hydrolic, and saved them.

Other opinions and comments are always welcome, but after my research, I see that Formula started putting Hydrolic in their boats only a few years ago?!? Therfore, I'm sure that it worked well when the parts are new. I just have a little slop in the steering, and figured while I'm changing parts this spring, I might as well go the distance.

Thanks in advance!!

Dave

I will try to remember this weekend. I converted to full hydraulic on my 252Sun Sport two years ago and may still have some of the parts. I know the cable is toast but the other parts were good. Formula can give you the exact part #/manufacturer required & them buy from any source. I may however have given them to the new owner last spring. If so, I will contact him (in Wisconsin) on your behalf. Mine only had 136 hrs on it, so there was no wear evident.
My weekend tel # is 918-484-2715. Feel free to call and remind me!!!

D...hope you and G had nice holidays. Gotta e-mail you and bring you up to speed on the boat search. I am definitely in a position to strike...waiting for the right $ on ...well...I think you know! None of that bucket of parts I gave you would help? You are looking for a complete tilt rotary helm unit to swap in correct? Working like a dog here to make that 353...oops! happen. Talk soon.

Ran,

Thanks, but no...none of the parts worked. I'm going to see if I can get the whole unit. Hopefully someone out there has one! Good hearing from you. E-mail me. Later
Dave

Yes, it was a tilt unit (original Formula stuff). I really do suggest you call this weekend to remind me..... I got a lot on my plate lately!! Again, if I do not have it, I will get in touch with the people that do for you.

axa- I checked this weekend for the helm unit & I do not still have it. I had to have given it to the new owner of the boat.
Since you did not contact me, I am uncertain as to if I should both him for you. If you do want the unit- pm me.

Dude, just go hydraulic!!! It's only $$$$$ Maybe if you didn't grip it so tight on the big water this wouldn't be an issue. You find me a motor last weekend?

mcorcora, Love that "BIG WATER"!! It's tough to not hang on when you're out of the water more than in. I'll talk to you about the power info later. Thanks for the response.
