who has replace vinyl on late 88's formula

i am replacing a section of the sunpad that had a corner tear.

looked at all the samples at the upolsterer, and nothing looked right.
I warned them that i had been an automtive seating engineer for 4 years........... poor them

anyway. i do have one contact who will be talking with formula today in fact, and is going to see if they have the vinyl. he did get some for a 89 311 last week.

anyone have luck, or know the specs, manufacturer of the vinyl they used?

the new vinyls are much more matted in their finish (less shiny)

I called Formula two years ago and all they wanted was the HIN #. They told ME how much and what color I needed
BUT , they wouldn't sell it to me. Had to have my local upholstery shop buy it

I redid mine last summer but went with new vinyl, replacing everything except the bolsters. I thought the old stuff was too stiff, but it could have been that it just was 13 years old.

i wanted the "boardy" original vinyl. seen too many redos that looked redone.

but i am in luck. my buddy Rick D here in town has ins with formula

and has coming next week, the ORIGINAL vinyl from formula, they saved bolts of it!!! from 1988!!
woo hoo. i am pumped. everything is original on my boat and I was struggling with leaving a small tear, or doing it right.

now it will be right. should be here tuesday

I'm considering doing my back seat and pad. I contacted Formula about a year ago, and if I wasn't mistaken could've swore they said that they have what you need but have to sell it to a shop or marina. That's great if it's still in stock!!
