357 Questions???
Well guys, looks like my 1990 292 SR1 Formula is "For Sale" officially. But the good news is that I maybe able to look harder at a 357. However, I have a couple of questions comparing the 292 to the 357.
First, where does the extra 6+ feet go?? Is the cockpit area larger than the 292? I'm sure the engine compartment is larger especially w/420's & TRS with the trans and all. I would also be sure that the cabin area is larger also, but specifically where?
Lastly, is the beam wider? If so, , anyone know by how much??
Thanks
Steve
PS: this whole sell my 292 idea was my wifes so that the few times she goes out, she'll have more room. I'm sure this is a farrrr.......... cry from a 280ss or 330ss?!?!
But, I think it would sure be sweet carrying & driving the ol' Formula "Flagship" to & around the river!!

Formula 1, the 357 is a much larger boat than a 292, most of which is out in front of you. it has a larger bench area and the head and refrig area are larger. You will really like the difference in the length in rough water. I am selling mine if you are interested. 502 EFI, fresh water cooled 11hrs on engines. trailer, everything on boat is less than 2 seasons old. Wiring harnesses, gaffgrig gauges, controls with trim, the only thing i didn't change is the hull. $55000. Great boat loves rough water. You will not be disappointed at all. My buddy had a 292 when he got on mine he couldn't get over the ride. Good luck ,Mark B. Heres a pic of his 292 next to mine at the dock.

MFB357-Sounds like you've got a nice rig, I've got an 89' 311-SR1 and have always liked the 357. What's the HP on those 502's, what props you running, and what's the top speed? Formula1-completely different boat, you won't believe the difference. It'll look/feel like it's 10 ft. longer. A GREAT rough water ride.

MFB-Why would you sell such a nice rig!?!!?!? But one question that hasn't been answered yet...would you say there is also more cabin headroom than the 292?
I know you said most of the lenght is in the front, but is the cockpit any larger than a 292?
Lastly, I could be interested, but could you give us some performance data on your boat?
Thanks,
Steve

thanks guys I do enjoy the boat. I've done everything over and just all done myself. I have 415 ...502 EFI's 5000 rpm through TRS, turning 22 Bravo 1's getting solid 68 trim set at 7-8 slight tab on port. these are factory installed engines an are fresh water cooled. Just put in new Gil strainers and battery hold downs. i have a complete list with all receipts. going up in size, had this one for 6 years lasted through a wife and 4 girlfriends... time to go! Mark
