TTT Bill, what kind of top speed do you get with HP500's? |
Re: The complete 336 thread
Am I correct in thinking that the 336 is a 311 with a molded-in platform and an updated dash/interior? The hull is the same?

Re: The complete 336 thread
I called Formula to ask that same question. I wanted to know to see if I could expect the same type of performance gain that Formula Outlaw got when he switched to Hydromotive Q-IV's. They told me that it is a different hull. Based on the brochures it weighs about 1000# more also.
COBarry - I've seen 74 GPS as top speed, in cool weather with a 1-2' steady chop, 2 people, 1/2 tank, and a summer load of boat crap. There might be another mph or so, but that's also what Formula told me what they got when they tested it. I can get 70-71 anytime. I'm spinning 23" labbed Mirages (not plus) around 5200 rpm with 1.36 bravos. The 75 mph speedo is buried at 70, so I should just leave the GPS off, the electrical draw must be robbing me of 4 - 6 mph. :D There are faster boats, but I like the balance between speed and liveability since we overnight a lot. |

Does anyone know where all the extra weight is? Based on the way the boat sits in the water when not under power, it must be forward because there is lots of freeboard aft, unlike a comparably sized Fountain which looks like it's sinking... |
Re: The complete 336 thread
A change was made to the design for '95/'96 to provide a notch in the transom; supposedly adds a few mph to top end.

Hey, approaching almost five years since the last post in this thread. Any upgrades or stories to add. So far I've gone threw 2 motors, 1 out drive and added a 1000 watt stereo system, def worth the $$$. C'mon whatcha got.

I picked up a 93 out of IL last year. It has factory 525's which from what I hear is kind of rare in this model. I had a 92 336 with 502's & there is no comparison to 525's. I didn't get to use the boat much last year & the speedo doesn't work.
I have heard guys talking about their 95 336's with 525's & speeds of 80mph, anyone know what speed I can expect with my prior model. |
