Removed silent thunder
My Silent Thunder platform had some exhaust leaks and rattled quite a bit so I pulled it off this week. I found that 2 of the chambers had come apart and there was a lot of spider cracking through the whole thing. Had a skip day on the lake yesterday and holy crap, I can't believe how much louder the boat is now. Does the box work that good or is it that the exhaust kind of resonates under the swim platform? I thought it was irritating at first, but liked it by the end of the day. Best sound in the word...

Yeah, they make a big difference in sound. At idle or low speed plane, the small circular holes on the bottom of the box are under water. As the boat rises out of the water when you speed up, the holes come out of the water and it gets considerably louder. I modifed mine. Cut the "partitions" out completely, then made the small circular holes into BIG honkin rectangular holes. I gained 300 rpms on the top after the mods. I am taking mine off within the next week or two. I have never liked the look of it. I've got an 89' 311-SR-1, 454 mags.
Will eventually end up witn an Extreme Marine platform to try to keep the wife happy. (like that's going to work)
Plus it's got to weigh a couple hundred pounds. Mine is in great shape, and it will be up for sale if anyone is interested.

We did spend a lot of time at metro this summer but our boat looks like this...

Thanks on the pic. It was taken during a fun run by AggressorTom in the St. Clair River. I only wish I had the bottom cleaner for it though.
Jim, yeah we should get together next year. I can tell you the story of how the guy who sold me my boat tried to back out of the deal at the last minute and offered me yours instead. Your 357 does look nice...
