I have heard that before that I have one of four 292s that came with the 502s.I guess I'm lucky to be one of the four out there. It would be nice to see who have the others.I like the paint design, never gets dated.

Thank you. Empty @ sea level in fresh water in runs right @ 72 on GPS all the time. With full tanks and crew in most water it runs a solid 66. @ these speeds it is a handfull on anything but smooth stuff, you must be on top of your game if it's rough. It has tossed us around a few times in a 1.5/2' of chop running it hard. Tall, heavy boat for sure. We boat on some lakes that get pretty rough with cross winds and the like. Great boats, you can haul along decently in rough water and BBQ off the back, then go take a nap:D

My wife and I boated Dec 29 and Dec 30 at LOTO this year. Hgh 60s, but sunny. I would have never gotten my wife out on any of the go fasts I owned in December. Plus with the 496 HOs it only takes a minute to pump the water out, and about 10 more to get the shop vac out and suck the water out of the bilge.

Thanks

I like it, good low and midrange and seems to handle way better around docks and trailer too.

+1 for a sweet ride NOMO. I can see why you want a new hatch lift; something doesn't look right. Not sure if it makes a difference, but my hatch lift was mounted further back, between the engines. Was nice to not have to work around it when working on the engines. It might not have been the original location.

Did you chrome or paint the cokpit hardware, rear handles, steps, controls, etc?

On those 502s, do you have the Formula order sheet? Are they 415hp or 465hp?

BowenCT 01-21-2009 11:10 AM

NOMO, Wow......hats off to you, well done!!!

I want to talk to you about your helm (dash, gages, trim/plane indicators, sticks, wheel) area. It looks fantastic.

PM to follow.

465 HP Mercs original (few were ordered from what I am finding out).

All the stainless or aluminum parts: Controls and rear steps were polished. The Grab bars, trim indicator bezel, and control base plates were chromed. (a lot of disassembly for this project)

Originally I had the HP 465 air cleaners with the decal on top but when they wore off I got the chrome Eddie Marine cleaners.

sweet ride nomo . i've got an old june 1990 Hot Boat mag with one of the first write ups on the "new" 502's . the picture on the opening page has your motors ,right down to the valve covers and manifolds. it's really a good article on the two engines 465 hp and the 420 hp . i have the 420 hp myself and the article does state the 465 was in limited numbers . great part of the story of my 242ls is the dealer had it listed as a 454 boat but with a little research and formulas help we found its a 502 under the hatch. If anyones interested i could scan the article and email it.
