Cool... I'll do it next chance I get. I was going to mount a few storage items on that bulkhead anyway...

I grabbed the avatar from an e-bay posting for a Formula Dealership sign. I just changed the properties to fit the max avatar size OSO allows.

Unfortunately, I'm not able to see everyone's attachments yet...but I have a little bird on the side of mine too...

Good looking boat. You were asking earlier about bowrails, I'd try to lower them, or remove them. Send me an email address, and I'll send pics of the bowrail on my 242, it was lower and looked better that way.

As a newbie, I'm constantly hopping up there to check stuff out with the anchor and such.

With limited storage, I'm also thinking about adding on a pair of small bumper racks to the bow rails.

The wife likes to swing her feet off the side and hold onto it too.

I'll also be doing some cooking and will need a place to mount the grill.

Do they add any structural integrity to the hull?

I can see how removing or lowering would streamline the looks. With the non-curved winshield, it shows it's age but cleaning up the bow would help.

I'm also thinking about adding docking lights to freshen it up. Do you have any pointers for installation?

I would try and avoid doing that with the bumpers. That is what ya do on a HUGE mega yacht not smaller boats like we have. It will ruin the lines of the boat
If your wife is hanging her feet over the sides while you are under way then you better hope you do not get caught as in most states it is illegal. Never the less it is dangerous.
Grills go off the back of the boat. There are lots to choose from.
The rail adds NO structural integrity to the boat.
I lowed my rail also, one of the first things I did. It does not cost you a dime and just a couple hours of time and you take a LOT off the age of the boat.
Dock lights are a easy install. The only hard part is getting the power up there. It is really more time consuming then anything. Make sure you use the proper fuses and guage wire all the way. Measure twice and cut once!!!!

Yeah, It seems sort of overkill to put the bumper racks on something that size... I'll look into doing something else before I make a purchase.

I'll check into the "feet over and under-way combination"
I'm not sure about it here. There's plenty I need to know like that anyway.

To lower them, I just mark each one for how short I want it and cut?

Getting power up to docking lights doesn't seem like much of a problem (for now). The (rabbit tail) carpet on the ceiling should be a good place to hide wires under.

I've got decent skills on elec. stuff, I'm just weary about cutting into the hull...

Send your lowered bowrail pics when you can..

Here is the standard bow rail on a 1985 242LS. As you can see, it's much shorter.

Here is the rail on my 20SC. It looks like something Captain Ahab would lean up against to spear a whale!
