Here is the Amp...Memphis Bell Hybrid 5 Channel. 50X4 for the full and highs and a 500 Class D mono Block for the subs. That's a true 50 watts per channel and 500 continuous 1000 watt peak for the subs. It draws aroud 100 amps and sounds great

This is the left sub. A 2003 Memphis Studio 12" (one of two). We cut out the gray thin fiberglass behind the door and replaced it with a custom made box which is around 1.25 cubic foot.

Here are two of the custom formed fiberglass pods which house the 6 1/2" Memphis studio (M Class) coaxial speakers for the passengers or while we are in the water swimming.

The sub boxes are screwed in from the back side with a spacer underneath to keep them at this height. Otherwise they stay there from the weight of the box and sub. This system sounds real good with no distortion at high levels. I am adding XM Radio this week using a Terk Marine Antena and a Pioneer FM Modulated receiver. Would have gone direct to a Pioneer deck, but the Sony deck that I have is the only one with a good wired remote. I also run a remote sub control and a Memphis line driver to balance everything out.

Hope this helps. Ask away.

Dave

I love that Memphis Belle- and what a great finish job on the amp rack!! I was going with Memphis- a 4x50 and a 1x250 originally, but I had an old Lanzar Optidrive 6200 (made in California) that I had never used and I suddenly got cheap . . . Anywho, my boxes are 16x9x8 with the JL 8ohm 8's. They are tall enough to fire over the "lip" of the trays, but I have been stumped by how to secure them in.

And another- what did you cut the glass out with? I assume it had carpet on it? Did you cut the carpet first, or just go for it? Any issues?

We cut the carpet long on the glass, and then used a roto-zip and dremel tool to remove the fiberglass. Took the extra carpet and folded it back under the lip to give it that finished look. Inside the box, before we installed the sub, we screwed the box to the top of the gunwale with two stingers with machine washers. It just holds it there. The box has never moved. It is supported by spacers under the boxes.
