Re: Finally started the exhaust swap out
Outlaw,
I just pulled my exhaust off... They were Osco's and they are "HEAVY" . In a vein to try to be helpful, I found that if I pulled the Alternator, and all of that paraphenelia, it made access much easier. I do that just to change plugs from now on. For the exhaust... I strapped a 2 by 4 board ,about 5 feet long, from the lip of inner sun deck over to the opposite engine exhaust riser. I pulled 2 bolts about a quarter of the way from each end of the exhaust, and replaced them with longer ones... ( about 4 inches ) to kinda hold it after removing all of the original remaining bolts. I tied rope around the exhaust riser to the 2 X 4 so when I broke the exhaust free from the gasket, it was supported by the 2 X 4 . I then pulled the remaining 2 bolts out and used the 2 X 4 to aid in handling the heavy exhaust. I hope this may be helpful. Doug ..... QD |

Re: Finally started the exhaust swap out
Doug, thanks for those tips. I'd already decided I was going get as much out of the way as possible, and replace fan belts while I'm at it. I mean why stop now???????
Mike, what I did was staple a tarp to a 1x2 strapping and rolled it up. What I do is screw the strapping (after unrolloing the tarp obviously) to the facia board above the garage, (Outlaw is backed up to within two feet of the garage door), then tie it off to a palm tree and a power pole in the side yard that feeds our underground service. Works like a champ..... This past Saturday I screwed off and took that ride on the Cig Tiger. Sunday I was too damn sore to even think about contorting around in that bilge. Now we've got two storms brewing. Keeping our fingers crossed they don't get too close. Russ |

I'll grant you the fact I now have a garage to work in makes it a helluva lot more palatable. :)
