Default Wtf ?

After Supper we decided to take a run around the lake ...its about 1/4 mile from our dock to the lake ..no wake zone ...about half way we feel a tug ..even Teressa looks over like ? almost like brushed a sand bar but there are none and it was about 6' deep ....anyway all seems ok and we ease out past the "NO WAKE MANATEE AREA" Death pilings out in the lake and I proceed to ease up on plane and rpms go up but boat dont go no where ...we both look at each other and say CRAB trap ! ...so I shut down ..raise the motors and nothing is there ...T is insistant that we return to the lift and see whats up but I try it one more time .....almost feels like both hubs spun ...and I just had all that redone ...300.00 ...So she wins and we head back .. put the boat on the lift ....and we find a 1x4 about 8' long wedged in front of both drives ....you couldn't have placed it there more centered ...the ends were on top of the planes so it was wedged good ....hopefully no damage done ...I guess the drag ..and also thinking it wouldn't let the drives all the way down ....

Mike, was the board wedged edgewise (laying horizontal) or sideways (verticle)? I would guess edgewise. Either way if it was wedged on TOP of the planes, you must have been in reverse for it to even get to that position. I don't see how moving forward it would have "kicked" up and landed right there. Were there any prop marks or gouges on it? I would think it would definitely have prevented the drives from going all the way down which would certainly explain not being able to get up on plane. I know you felt the boat bump something, I would assume you were going forward, can't figure out how in the world that could have gone under the drives, then back up and virtually lift up and move forward to position itself on top of the drives, UNLESS maybe when you ran over the board, it was angled in relation to the boat, got one end jammed on top of the K-plane and the other end just swung into place, man you know what the odds are on that. Hope you played the lotto last night, it was 40 mil. That's the only way it could have happened in my mind, unless someone put it there and that's unlikely. I think reasonable thinking, is that it was angled and just somehow ended up where it did, like I said those are just astronomical odds. Did you happen to check your drive indicators? As long as the board didn't push the ends off of the indicator drive cable, which is only spring loaded and has to be EXACTLY placed in the right spot to stay in place, the indicator would have told you the drives weren't down.

I highly doubt you did any damange, just keep the board, hang it on the wall in the house somewhere, and tell the story. Keep us posted, Russ.

Wish i taken a pic ... started to ..the board was in front the drives ...and on top of the planes ...the indicators are so fugged up I dont pay alot of attention to them ..I did have the drives way up because we had gone up creek a little and it was real shallow and didnt want to suck some mud ...so when we picked up the board the drives were up ...planes prob 2-3 ....then when we got past no wake zone I went to 5-6 on planes and then full in on drives. ....the whole time this was a idle speed ..only reverse was to back out of slip ...The Board HAD to perpendicular to the boat when we ran over it ..with the drives up I guess it caught thefront of the drives and then when I lowered the drives caught the planes ? ....one more thing ...I have tarps setup as temp roof on the boathouse ....and I had some 1x4's holding em down ...and about 2 weeks ago a storm blew one off .....it sure looks like the same board ...
