I'd love to try hydromotives to see how they affect the boat, but either way, I'm not going back to the mariges. If you do try hydromotives, I understand there is about a 3" difference in pitch, so try about 3" lower than a bravo's pitch to get similar performance.
Chart - how long have you been running the 4 blades with TRS? Most people say that is a no-no that the lower pinion gear can't handle it, but I really want to try a set.

I've always heard that the TRS, though not the most hydrodynamic efficient drive, was extremely strong, much stronger than a Bravo.

I don't think I'd hesitate about trying a four blade on it. Just don't hammer the hell outta it coming out of the hole. Just my two cents.

I appreciate all the input guys. Kind of reinforces everything I've heard. I spend most of my time in the 3500rpm range anyway and have a tough time keeping up with some buddies whose cruise speed is much better than mine.

WAGS, what do you want for those QIV's?

Tried posting it early this morning but for some reason the picture wouldn't post. Even put a thread on "glitches" in the GBD Formum.

Couldn't let that go by unnoticed.

Couple of years now, but I usually loose the first half of the season to some spring project that was bigger than I told my wife it would be

I don't baby it, but don't abuse it either. Ease it out of the hole, and be careful when flying. With the depth of the drive, it's hard to get it airborn enough to over rev the prop anyway. When changing drive oil this winter, there was no metal in it, so so far, so good.

Hi Guys.

Was tweaking my '89 292 (stock 365HP Mags) by putting Stainless Marine Exhaust, Imco nosecones, Holley high flow flame arrestors and was revving the old girls 5300+ vs prior at 5050.

Harrassed the Mercury racing guys (actually spoke with the late Dennis Cavenaugh..nice guy, RIP).

They recommended 25P Mirage plus 3's (said the 4's were too much stern lift). Now back around 5 grand and the boat runs 73MPH on a good day on Nordskog GPS speedo.

Have read that the older Formulas have deep X dimensions and if top speed is your goal go for the 3's. Otherwise for midrange speed and coming on plane the 4's work well. Just depends what you are looking for.
