are these carling covers still available? if so how can I contact the owner?
|
I did an upgrade to mine over the winter as well. I'll try to snap some pictures of it over the weekend to post. I opted not to get all new panels, rather I simply modified my existing ones. So far I'm very happy with the results.
|
Formula stocks all of the newer Carling switches and covers. Like Nort, I upgraded mine 2 years ago and instead of silk screen, I had a couple custom label laser engraved then filled black.

I have Formulas drawings for the flat and stepped panel. I can email them to you

I have a older 302 ... old guage set-up was just mounted to plexiglass , I used that as a pattern and built a model raising the guage base ( angled more twards driver ) and incorperating raised and angled bezels for each gauge ! Then made a mold of it !
Took me a week of playing with gel-coats to deside what color I wanted , but laminated the part Friday , will pull it tomorrow ! I think it will be kick-ass ! |
Last year Steve at Innotech did the 2 top panels over for my 1999 353 so I could fit in my gps. We went with the silver carbon weave as there was no white option at the time. He did a very nice job.

Gpsmap 565 - there was no factory gps so i had a new dah panel made moving some gauges around and the gps fits as flush mount in middle. i eliminated my speedo which didnt work anyway. There is very limited room on the 353 dash as you know

After downloading a dozen different templates of GPS's and finding nothing that would fit nicely, I did a litte surgery on the dash. I really didn't want to get involved in a major dash project in June, so I removed the factory bezels from the guages to make some room and was able to use the original panel. Here is before and after. I guess the next step is to hook up the Merc Monitor interface.
|
Do you still have any of these?
|
A few years ago I called Formula and was able to get the name of the company that makes the dash panel for them. I ordered a blank one and put the holes in it the way I wanted so I could fit a charter plotter. Sorry, no pics because the boat was ripped off. When it was found it was stripped, including the dash.
|
I had Innotech in St. Louis make mine, they did a great job on the carbon fiber, talk to Steve, just google them.
|
I just had Steve at innotech make all new dash panels. He did a great job. My new gauges just shipped out. Once I get everything installed I will post a pic. I'm looking for some billet throttle controls now. Know anywhere that has deals?

Give Bill at Diamond performance a call. He will hook you up!!

Dash Panels for 353 blank or cut. Or any model
Guys, For all of you looking for dash panels I found a guy that can do the whole job. Layout the panel cut all the holes and completed with power cote color of you choice. He matched my white dash and texture. I had him lay out my 353 dash using an Garmin ECHOmap 70s. So if you have a 353 and want an in dash 7" GPS he already has the program in his CNC machine assuming you like the layout i chose. He is on Facebook "Custom Powder Kote" or his e-mail is . Pricing is lets just say cheap compared to what us guys are use to paying. If you are interested in pictures you can PM me as i do not have privileges to post pictures here.

If all I wanted was a powered panel, I have a pocket full of "cheap" machine shops here too that could do,the job. Innotech is 1st Class not coach. Real laminated carbon fiber with screened graphics. Do it your way and then compare the end product. I'll save you money by saying it won't be the same, but hey, it's your boat! Dave |

Dave is absolutely correct...You can look at the dash on Chillin' and see what Dave is saying is true...

Dave,
Sorry didn't mean to step on your toes! In all due respect I would not want to install your Carbon Fiber with Screened graphics on my boat. I want my dash to look as "stock" or original as Formula built it. I have a very close color match and texture as original. I just wanted to have an updated touch Screen GPS. I also had a hole in the middle from an OLD GPS that Formula Installed so I had to have a new panel made and I am very happy on how it turned out. It was also a bonus i didn't have to shell out a bunch of money to do it. I was just trying to be helpful to guys looking for a original blank or modified dash panel ..... That's all. Jeff |

Jeff You did not step on my toes. Different strokes for different folks! It is your boat and you have to look at the dash while driving it. As far as stock...Your boat came from the factory with a touch panel? (Busting your balls....) Everyone is entitled to their opinion and some are looking for other options! Formula, since circa 2005, has been installing the carbon fiber panels made from Innotech. So... It is a later factory stock panel. Cost, well it can be expensive. Call Steve for a quote. He is fair for what he does and every boat is different! Regards! Dave |
