Formula Dash Panels
Is there a source besides Formula? I want to make a custom layout and would really like a blank one from Formula if that is at all possible. Need ASAP.
Alternative is the sheet metal drawing for the part......any ideas? Maybe the best thing to do is just work with the existing one......Fastech 382 http://www.vxi.cc/phantomchaos/images/P0002392.jpg |

Re: Formula Dash Panels
Try Team Marine. They did mine. Great job just don't tell them to take their time.

Re: Formula Dash Panels
Nort,
Don't know if you already checked prices with Formula. Retail for the big flat main panel is over $1000.00. Smaller trim indicator panel, small accessory panel, and small ignition panel are $400.00 each ... in your choice of colors, of course. |

No wonder their new boats are approaching 400K, or more..... |

Re: Formula Dash Panels
I've been having the same thought as I would do some guage rearrangement and flush mount as big a screen color plotter as possible.
I like the new 16:9 ratio plotter displays, I believe they are going to be the next big thing. ;) The worst part of the 382 dash is the step in the panel. Lucky for me the 353 is flat so there are a few more, and less costly alternatives to fabbing a new panel. |

Re: Formula Dash Panels
My only guess is, when we unhooked the batterys for winter, thats just where the gauges rested. Red, did you sell them to a guy in VA named John? I had the GPS speedo done last year.

Re: Formula Dash Panels
Probably on the high-end as well, but Gaffrig sells dash panels, I've seen them in their catalog.
|
Re: Formula Dash Panels
They don't list them for Formula though as far as I know. :(

Re: Formula Dash Panels
They are painted 1/8" alum. What is 3M PPF?
|
Re: Formula Dash Panels
3M Paint protection Film, if you ship the dash panels to me after painting, I can cover them with the film that stops them from chipping if something is dropped on them. copy and paste my site link and it will give you more info. I'm having the site overhauled so it may be tough, I'm going to be doing Craigs new truck for him next tues...if my tint guy ever calls me back:rolleyes:

Re: Formula Dash Panels
Interesting.....but I've never scratched a panel before. What about the sun? Would it yellow or something?

Kev.....I'm not sure about that. Panels on top of the original one? Hopefully I'll see you tomorrow and we can talk about it. |
Re: Formula Dash Panels
Nort - You've done the hard work. I'd just take the loose panels to a decent sheet metal shop and have them copy the shape and bends, but not cut the holes. Now that you have them out, it should be easy. Once you have all the gauge and accessory holes in where you want them, you can have them painted/powdercoated to your heart's delight.
Bet that boat looks like a LOT of wiring with those panels out.... |

Re: Formula Dash Panels
Nort,
Are you refinishing these panels or replacing them? I know WAGS382 would be interested in your main guage panel so he could add oil temp guages. |
Re: Formula Dash Panels
Not sure yet.....meeting with my sheetmetal vendor tomorrow. If they choose to re-fab the main panel....I'll have extra ones made. The others will just re refinished. :D

Re: Formula Dash Panels
We're going to be making a new panel. I am going to make 15 or 20 blanks while I'm at it. :evilb: :evilb: :evilb:

Re: Formula Dash Panels
Nort,
Let me know what you want for the old main guage panel. WAGS382 will be interested. Thanks, Chris |

Re: Formula Dash Panels
Jeez Nort,
How many more guages you need to have? It's looking pretty busy up there ... I'm not sure I could monitor all those guages and still watch where I'm going. But then, I've always been easily distracted and starting to show my age. RD |
Re: Formula Dash Panels
A is the best IMO however I am trying to figure out what all those guages could possibly be!!!
2 tachs 1 speedo 2 oil temps 2 oil preasures 2 water temps 2 water preasures 1 fuel guage 1 volt meter 2 engine hour meters That got me to 12 and you still have a extra hole there. I would get the tachs with the hour meter in them and then you can take out some more guages. OR hide the engine hour guages and the volt and fuel guage and make it easier to read. I would also suggest that you put your guages together. IE. port and starboard oil preasure together. That way you can just scan the dash and look at them to see if they are pointing in the same direction, not actually have to read them. That is how all the race boats are set up. Jon |
