Re: Formula Dash Panels
Those are PEM studs that are pressed into the panel. I would have used the type that presses from the opposite side of the panel......
The only thing for you to do is drill through and install a similar sized phillips flat head (like what holds the hinge brackets) or.....new panel! Next time.....try unlatching before you try to open the panel. :) :evilb: |
TTT.......somebody was asking!

Front and Back sides I am working on redoing my dash panel on a '97 382. I was looking through some old threads on the subject and saw that you had some extra blanks made. Do you still have any left? |
I have the drawings for the stepped and flat main instrument panel for a 382. If you want them email [email protected]
|
I ran across this site not long ago - could be an option if you really want to go custom & trick. Lot's of carbon fiber material and color choices. http://compositeenvisions.com/

I am lookiing to rework my 199 353 panel to allow for a Garmin 546 flush mount which requires an open spot of about 6 3/4 X 7. Luckily I only have 6 small gauges and 3 large ones. I just emailed Paneltronics who apparently does the factory panels for Formula. Any suggestions on other fabricators?

Looking at buying a 1997 382.. quick question.
I plan on using the stock panel and having it hydo dipped ion a carbon fiber pattern. and then new gauges. can you install new gauges int he factory holes? as the hole look to have the factory gauges BEHIND the panel.... also I want to do the flush mount GPS unit. so I may have to remake a panel as well. |

I would love to find a blank one, but no biggy on the factory holes if i can cut out the speedo and fit a GPS in there. |

I would love to get new dash panels for my 292 but I decided to remodel my family room instead, so there went my budget for that.
I will be updating the dash this season, it just won't be with new panels. I got something else in mind for the time being. Will try to post some pics when I get around to it. |

The older 382s had a stepped dash. How did you change the dash to accomodate the later model flat panel?
I had the panel made slightly larger to cover the gap that would be caused if you matched the step panel. the step does not affect your ability to use a flat panel. You do have to be diligent in your measuring and drilling of the screw holes for the hinged brackets, I used a card board template. |

My dash arrived from Steve on Thursday. I am floored. It is beautiful. I am trying to decide what to do on the wires for the gauges. They are like a 22 gauge and the harness is 14 gauge some doubled up. I was thinking about just running them all to a distribution block and one wire from the harness for the hot wire, ground, and illumination. Each gauge will still have a sender wire. I have a step down butt connector for that. Any thoughts?
What did you guys do for the latch? I was thinking about making a block and gluing it to the back of the new dash. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...s/DSC02849.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...s/DSC02851.jpg Nice! |
I'm having a replacement for my f20 done by http://www.oceanstatelaser.com/
Can't wait to see it finished but I have a lot more to take care of first haha |
Formula was kind enough to send me drawings for flat and stepped 382 panels. I understand that the flat panel will fit the stepped cowling. Email randy@connecticutmicrowave and I will send you a copy
|
i purchased some carlingswitch actuators from ultra panel marine and they had the dash panels that looked identical to my 95 Formula. however, i just googled them and it says the website is temporarily not available. not sure if that is of any help to you or not.
