Re: 35' Lightning 525SC Numbers
tnothin, What kind of speeds are you getting out of thr 29 with the 575?
|
Re: 35' Lightning 525SC Numbers
Right now Im seein about 81-82 on gps. Last weekend we were doin 80 with about 80 gallons of fuel, 4 people and a lot of beer in the cooler. But Im having the prop re labed this week, hopefully we will go a little faster.

Re: 35' Lightning 525SC Numbers
what size prop are you thinking, A friend of mine has one also .He runs about the same speed, But I think he is running the smaller blower pully.

Re: 35' Lightning 525SC Numbers
Im keeping the 30 B1. Its spinning to the right, I know my buddy has one and does 3 mph faster with a left, but it is easier to break the drive by spinning to the left. Our boat is still bone stock. In another 4 months when the warranty is up I will probably do the Chiller and the pulley.

tnothin --
carney mentioned my boat -- i freshened my 575 this past january and banged the rev limiter on the first run with full tank of fuel on flat water i installed a smaller pulley (old 525 SC pulley) -- making 7 psi boost on a 50 degree evening - so i ended up getting a lab'd 32 Bravo 1 which put me at 5300 rpm and 86.5 mph GPS -- just installed water injection to get the high boost temps under control -- seems to be working nicely but the weather has been 85+ and humid = 84mph -- waitng for another cool nite |

Do you have the chiller on there? What drive are you running, are you getting away with runnin the stock XR? I am only seein about 80-81 on gps right now thats not in the right conditions, thats with about 1/2-3/4 tank and 2-4 people. I just got my 30B1 labbed and it made a big difference in mid range and getting on plane but havent really tryed the top end yet. I can tell it is more efficent though.(80mph, 4 people 70 gallons fuel, 90deg. out) Are you spinning a LH or a RH? And what speeds were you seein why it was stock? Would appreciate any advice. Thanks, Chambersgc. |
Re: 35' Lightning 525SC Numbers
tnothin,
no chiller - went with water injection instead - had to do some milling and drilling, etc to install nozzles under throttle bodies. running a stock 1.5 XR drive and a 32 lab'd RH Bravo1 prop - nothing special extra power came from freshening motor and having to shave heads and deck block .010" each - produced a little more squeeze -- plus the smaller blower (top) pulley I have a thread on the Prop forum -- "TMI - 4 or 5 blade" My drive is definitely high but i am not sure if i want to lower it or not (using spacers) -- it slips more for sure getting on plane but it worked perfectly to get my rpm's down off the rev limiter - only thing i am waiting for now is cooler weather to compare my baseline 86.5 mph to the water injection set-up -- it looks like my oil temp has dropped 20 degrees under long pulls, so i assume it is doing its job |
Re: 35' Lightning 525SC Numbers
If you know how to drive the 35 its a safe as can be.
Dont pay attention and just as Reggieraft says, God will pay you a little visit! BUt man its a rush! The 35 canopy boat at a 119MPH is a handfull!!!!! |
