Wow, this thread really went on a tangent, but a very relevant issue. My wife and I almost bought a 32 with 502s' but once we looked at what the differences were from our 27, we decided to skip the 32 and go directly to a 35 or 38 foot boat. Storage becomes a whole new issue with a 38, though. A lot of storage units at Cumberland could handle a 35 on the "right" trailer (read:short tongue), but very few could handle the overall length of a 38. Also, from what I saw, you could get a 38 for the same, or just a little more, than a 35. Price diffence wasn't that much considering the amount of $$ you are already paying.

Went from a 27' to a 38' over the winter. I tested both (w/ HP 500's) and liked the additional cabin space of the 38' since my gfriend and I stay weekends on the boat. The 35' was better on the top end, but seemed a little less "connected" to the water at top speed. Both are great boats; don't think you can make a bad decision. Definitely would suggest you drive both (preferably back to back) before buying. FYI my insurance with Progressive is $1,300 per year on the 38' with HP 500's. I'm 33 and single so just about anyone should be able to beat that rate.

I went from a 29 with twins to a 35 both have blower motors and love them both , but the 35 is a much easyer boat to drive. A friend just bought a 42 and that is one big boat. you will have fun with what ever you pick.

Thumbs up Re: Upgrade from a 29' to a 32' or 35'???

I have a 97 35 for sale, with 500 hps 164 fresh water hours, extras, very meticulous, and clean. I had a 35, 27, 32 and now back to the 35. I will figure out how to post pictures and put up a few.

I am 27 and was insuring a 2002 42' fountain with 575's up until I sold it this year. Had the boat for 3 years, no tickets, no claims on any of my boats and insurance went up $700 to a total of $6700 for a season. I called sy and reduced the value covered and up'd the deductible which brought it to $6000. Insurance was part of the reason I bought a 29'.
