Re: Congrats Fountain of Youth
I likes twin turbines!!
..just look at the heat pour out the stacks..taken at 1/2000th of a second..3 miles away at 600 mm optical zoom. They were on the sticks full bore..oh and handheld (with stabilizer on)....I feel cheap using a Panasonic/Leica FZ-20 that costs $600.00. But my Nikon does not do as well...what can I say.
..can your disposable camera do that?
..left click to enlarge.

Re: Congrats Fountain of Youth
Thanks Kurt,
It's taken some work, but the combo of indestructible drives from Konrad, a solid engine package from Flow Technologies, bigger Hubers, and a lot of plain hard work from Lee and myself, has all paid off.
She feels as good as she looks.
Cheers,
Brian

Re: Congrats Fountain of Youth
Thanks guys.
...well good news and bad news. Good news is we crossed the finish line first in Reggieville! But the bad news is: somehow, scoring has us breaking out by 5mph!
All of the P5 boats broke out, as well as 3 P4's.
We understand it's being "looked at". Hopefully all will shake out in the end.
Cheers,
Brian

Hope all works out. What is breaking out? Is each P class allowed a top speed they can run?

Re: Congrats Fountain of Youth
Yeah, they allow us a top avg lap speed of 74.9mph on a course measured in a straight line from pin to pin.
The prop calculation at tech inspection combines rpm, prop pitch, drive gear ratio, and a theoretical slip of 12%.
My calculation works out to a theoretical top speed of 82+ at 5400rpm, which is the estimated straighaway top speed. Scrubbing down to the high 60's in the turns, plus taking wide turns brings speeds close to that average. It's a way to level the playing field with a wide range of boat sizes and power setups.
P-class boats fit into:
P5 65mph avg
P4 75mph avg
P3 85mph avg
P2 95mpg avg
P1 110mph age
Hope this helps,
Brian
