Re: Congrats Fountain of Youth
Thanks Hydro,
It was a pretty flat race, so we barely had to work the Konrads at all.
It was an interesting race, a lot of strategy. We went into turn 1 side by side with the Bounty Hunter, a 25' Corsa former A-class boat pushing about 675hp on the inside of us. Brian Fredrick leaned that thing over on it's side and at the exit of 2, he was 5 lengths ahead of us. We all said "this is bad, Real Bad". We noticed that we had some speed on him coming down river, but knew we would have big problems with him in the turns.
Luckily, we spent lap 2 under caution as a freighter passed thru the course, and it gave us time to figure things out. Lap 3, we got inside of them early on the downstream leg, and let the speed of the Konrad Fountain of Youth do it's thing. We went into turn 3/4 in the lead by a few boat lengths. After that, he just couldn't make any more ground having to deal with our wakes in the turns.
We never saw Augie. He had his water in Sarasota, but we got ours for this race. The Caddilac is a Jersey water boat.
Lee Raleigh on the sticks is a veteran of this race course, having raced on the St Clair River for the 8th time this weekend. He knows where it gets sloppy, and most importantly knows how to deal with turns 3 and 4 where the current gets really tricky. I have to give the credit to him for the win on this one!
Thanks for the support, guys. Reggieville is next weekend... wish us luck!
Cheers,
Brian

Re: Congrats Fountain of Youth
It is estimated that there were 50,000 fans watching this race! I gotta believe there were 10,000 cameras taking pictures.
If anyone has any they would like to share, please email them to [email protected] . I'll post them here if you don't have an account. Thanks for yours, Hydro.

Re: Congrats Fountain of Youth
..do i get the job as team photographer?
Feel free to upload and make prints etc. they had to be downsized to 1024x768 but that is still great to print off of.
I filled up my memory card and took 400 pictures. Using the Panasonic/Leica FZ-20. I bought a new 150X speed card and could take 3 pictures per second on the max. settings. Can't miss.
