I was woundering if you could check the X-dem on your boat and tell me what it is. I think mine could run faster with 1.50 and 30p props. I think the drives on mine are to deep inthe water. My drive height is 4" from the bottom of the boat to the center of the prop shaft. not from the notch but from the very bottom right in front of the prop shaft.
I have a single step 35 fountain a 97 model, bought it from
www.dallasboats4sale.com, I have had it for 8 months it has been repowered with 500efi's and Ext. boxes all put on by Leon Derberry. it has 28Q4 hydro props turning in. the drives are marked 1.36 ratio and it will turn 5150 rpm's which comes out to 82.8 on gps at the Clear lake poker run with both tanks full , gear and my girlfriend on board, my X is 3" and it still comes on plane pretty good, have to baby it a tad, never tried any other props yet, hope to this winter, hope this helps a little

Just for comparisons sake. I have a 05 ex with 496 ho's
I hit 79, gps today. 32 bravos,1.65 drives And I'm
bangin the limiters everytime I open it up.I wonder
if its got a little more in her with some reworked
props.I think Fountain really raised the X dim up on
these boats.

epeek,

I thought all the late 35 Ex's had 1.5 gearing, is yours a special order or am I mistaken? Just curious.

I do not understand how all of us can have so many different combinations, with props ,gearing ,drive height, rpm and still run the same speeds??????????? and I am sure all the boats weigh alot different.

soo your about 74-75 GPS - I would guess there a couple MPH to be gained from the labbed 27's

a friend of mine has the same boat and it has the 1.65 ratio drives on it also, but the best he has run is 76.5 in salt water , light load , GPS speed, sounds like the guy that runs 79 is doing it in a river with a 4 mph current in it

I tested a 35 with the 502;s in it[415hp] and gps was 74.6 on it, most speedos read higher than actual speed but are still close

No nothing special. As far as I know, all the X's
04-05 with 496's are running 1.65's. Thats why
they have the 32 bravos on them. Even with
those 32's I'm still bangin the limiters. I've
heard the same story form other guys with
this boat. I'm wondering if the 32 isn't the
the best prop for me.I do know that they
raised the X-dim in 05.I not sure if it is the
same in 04. All in all I'm pretty impressed
with those numbers with only 425 hp 496's.
