Default Installing air conditioning

Does anyone know how to remove the counter top on a 38?

BTW, has anyone ever replaced the factory installed counter with Corian? That area is virtually worthless. Would like to ditch the 80's disco cup holders and high quality cooler that never breaks and does a great job keeping ice.

I have wondered the same thing. The built-in ice chest is small and not insulated. There is a lot of wasted space around it in the galley area, and I agree 100% that the clear plastic cup holders are worthless and cheesy. Has anybody ripped it out and done anything better?

Long screws from underneath.
You can see the location of many of them if you look real close trough the clear plexy edges.

I was thinking that the silver strip would reveal screw on the front? I can see screws facing towards the hull on the inside wall.

I'm thinking the whole top is assembled like a sandwich????? At least that is how mine appears to be, but never really studied it that close.

Just in case anyone ever does this, the counter is fabricated as part of the cabinet. The cooler lid / cup holder portion unbolts from the top. I removed it to lower the weight then pulled the cabinet by removing the wood screws from the bottom. It would be very easy to add a corian overlay if desired.

Yep, I double checked today while working on the boat.

Mine has several studs with nuts that are visable underneath thru the storage door that hold the cooler lid, 2 plexy strips and spacer panels to the countertop. Remove the nuts, that assembly will pull up, leaving the counter top. Will have to remove the U-shaped switch panel 1st.
