bottom wax

Thinking about waxing the bottom of my 27 fever. Will it help or hurt top speed. Opinions please!

Do a search there are many opinions both ways. I did mine several years ago. made it easier to clean but that was about it.

I Did my Gladiator and my buddy,s Topgun. No effect on speed , just alot easier to clean. I woudn,t waste my time unless you boat in fresh water.

Why would fresh water make a difference?

I boat in fresh water. i couldn't tell you if it makes a difference, but a lot of people have recommended a product called "scat". Most say it's worth a couple mph. I plan to give it a try this year.

Waxed the bottom of every boat we ever had, 13' Whaler, 15' Whaler, 16' Donzi, 18' Donzi, 20 Cigarette, 24" Pantera, 27' Magnum, and it helped, plus made it much easier clean. I would strongly suggets it.

I give mine 3 coats before taking it to the lake for the season. Even though it is on a lift all summer, it keeps it clean. As a general boater, not a racer, I prefer convenience over that possible chance I can find 1 or 2 mph. I don't spend much time at WOT.

A good polymer coating will fill in pores that could eventually allow blisters to form. Wax it.

I think that the salt would eat away the wax immediately.

The wax will only help you to clean it easier. The shark is the fastest fish in the sea. Did you ever feel how smooth his skin is? Like sandpaper.
