New 38 opinions

Been doing some research and reading, so now time to ask fello beak boaters. I don't run many poker runs, so my speed is not a huge factor. I have found that the 496HO is a great motor, cost is much less then a 525 ($35k plus) and insurance can be a much half the price with a 496HO boat then a 525 boat. Obviously the package ins't going to be as pretty but i have been told that CMI has a header option for the 496, something to keep in my mind. Now, specs say that a 525 38 will be high 90mph boat, with the loss of 100hp or so with 496's does it seem reasonable to say low 80's?? Is the hull that efficient? 35 with 496's only high 70's? Is it going to bad for re-sale?
I currently have a 35 and will have to see what an actual cost will be as i would be financing but think that I am ready to step up, just got to make a little more $$$$
Thanks gang;

The new 38 is sweet, however are you talking about the new 38 Staggered?? or just the 38 Lighting. If you are not after speed I would not go for the staggered set up you loose cockpit space, just something to think about.

Thought was for the new fully staggered with 496's, just not sure if it is going to hurt me for re-sale etc. I think the boat will run low 80's and WAY cheaper on insurance.
Pulmytrigger, MTI? who said MTI? I know we were talking about the MTI's at the poker run but no i can't even come close to one of those. Wish i could!!
I have been talking to my dealer and Jim has given me a few more options that my be a 38 still or possibly a 42 but my best bet might be to hang til the winter and finish the season with the 35. Big buy and will have this one for a while so want to make sure i do the right one.
I will keep everyone informed.

Yes it will hurt re-sale big time and it should run on a light load around 80.
The 35 Classic has 496's and runs 79 so a 38 Lightning with the more effieciant hull and better balance should run around the same speed or a little less. At least 77-78 under a normal load and water conditions.
