The 42 Ex and 42 Lightning have different bottoms.

TODAY Fountain Cust Svc told me that they bottoms were the same in '05 forward. The performance should be identical. SO WHY are there so many more Lightning than Ex out there when Lightning is so much more expensive?

You won't crush waves, but rather skip over them. The faster you go the better it will ride which takes some getting used to.

Test ride one first and you will answer your own question. Happy shopping :drink:

Hey Downtown you are a 42 Ex aren't you? I went out with my friend last weekend on his 42 Lightning 575's and we had a great ride. Where does the air stream hit you on your boat when you are in the stand up driving position?

yes 42 Ex. Standing up chest-neck height I guess. 5'9''. I always would stand in the 35, the 42 is really comfortable sitting down. Ride is level and I am tucked in just perfect.

I can see the negatives for a big boy in a Fountain.

Lightnings have more headroom and you can get TV, A/C, Genset, all the stuff that breaks unless you run with Petunia's on the table and a washer dryer :evilb:
