question on prop choice 38 fever
HELP! just purchased a 99 fever 38 with 500's . My question is does anyone have any experience on prop choice for this boat. The prop's i have now are toast with Bravo drives! The boat has 100 hours, we run in fresh water great lakes and usually are running for speed. Also does anyone have a idea what this boat should run for speed with stock power. Thanks much Billy

Ok I can help. I have the same boat. The boat can be propped s different ways. I use a set of 28 mercs, a set of 27 hydros, and a set of 26 hydros. Here are the scenarios- The 28 mercs will give you the best ride in big more bow lift requires a little more tab. My boat spins these at about 5000-5100. Top speed at about 75.5 gps. ( real world conditions-3-4 people and fuel.) Again, the boat handles the rough better with the mercs. Hydromotives are the fastest because they provide more stern lift which requires less tab( less drag). I run the 26 p, summer. Boat runs 81-82 depending on load on the gps spinning 5300- to the limiters. Boat is the fastest with the 26 hydros and pulls like a frieght train. I switch to the 27 hydros in the fall due to air temp. and density. Boat will be banging the limiters with the 26p in the fall so I put on the 27s to back it off some. Cruise speed pics up a little but runs just south of 80 on gps but takes some strain off the motors. Again the boat will handle the best with the merc 28. but not the fastest. I have tried a set of labbed 28s and picked up a little but you are waisting your time. When I got my 38 I had about 5 different sets of props on the boat so I know what works and what doesn't. Every application is divverent though. If you have any questions let me know or Send me a pm and I'll give you my phone # and I can talk to you about your boat.

[QUOTE=throttleup;2001573]Raf,
Have you tested 5B props on your boat?
Julie[/QUOTE
Julie I have not tested a 5 blade prop on my boat yet but have always been a little curious. I went through a prop testing phase a couple of seasons ago and now regrettingly own more props than lake x. lol! UPS me a set and I'll let you know.lol!
