We have a 1990 27 Fever {29'} This will be the 3rd season we've owned the boat, we love it. I've been all over and under this boat, and for being 17 years young looks like new. Fountain builds a great boat, but if in doubt, get a survey. We might sell, like to move up to 35-38'. Anyone interested?

my buddy had a 91 29 fever that split up front. it cracked from rub rail, down to the V, and up to the other rub rail. the deck bond was the only thing holding the bow on. he spent good $$ to fix it, and then traded it on a 96 35.
the motors went after a season on the 35. he pulled the motors and found wet/rotted stringers near the transom. also the transom was wet around the gimbals. i'm guessing the surveyor couldn't get the moisture meter back that far ?? he spent more good $$ to fix that problem.
maybe he just has bad luck with boats ?

I have a '91 27' Fever. When i bought the boat, there was a small problem on the bottom near the transom on the inside, the apparent result of an air void when it was built and stress over the years (the boat previously had a blower motor and was used in Lake Michigan). The surveyor didn't notice it, he must have been blind or lazy. It cost $700 to fix. There was some minor moisture in the transom that was the result of lousy rigging of the cables for the trim tab indicators, but that was easily fixed and there was no rot.
Only other fiberglass troubles were the result of driving it through a 31 Sea-Ray at 30+ mph. After that incident, I can attest that Fountains are very well-built boats. My boat suffered zero structural damage, and when they cut an access hole in the cabin to inspect the stringers, everything was clean, dry, and solid.

Sorry, did'nt have a digital camera until lately. As soon as our lousy weather breaks, I'll get it out and get some nice pics. Has the 3 wide blue stripes, same on the engine hatch. Boat is all original, 315 hrs on 454 mags. Runs 74+ on gps, how about yours? Running 25p mirage. Tried 26p labbed brovos, didn't make much difference. Again, great boat.
