Fountain Apparel

It sucks:mad: To me it looks like some one went to Men's Warehouse and slapped their logos on genric dated apparel.

You have to admit Cigarette has some very nice trendy apparel.

35 fountain 02-28-2007 04:45 PM

you could not be any more right - that stuff belongs in a yard sale and the prices insure that they wont sell any of it either.

runafever 02-28-2007 04:55 PM

Right! TAH ( Tacky As Hell)

FIVEPTOHH 02-28-2007 05:38 PM

My sister bought me a nice white Fountain beach towel for Christmas this past year. That thing was $100.00 !!! for a stupid beach towel..!!

rbpalmer2000 02-28-2007 07:52 PM

It is awful, worse than awful, shameful-lol!

I have 2 of them. Them sumbiotches damn near sink my boat they weigh so much. :p Very nice product though. Fountain does not make them. They are made by Fat Towels, who also make for Cig, Baja and such.

I also have the black satin Fountain jacket. I like it. The womens apparal is nice. :drink:

kickin32 02-28-2007 09:50 PM

They do need to update!! I would like some better stuff !!

fountainfevr 02-28-2007 10:12 PM

I am so glad that I am not the only one who feels that Fountain needs to do something better with their sportswear! Hopefully they will see this thread and do something about it.

epeek 02-28-2007 10:21 PM

Agreed!!! At the Miami boat show, Cig sold enough clothes
that they don't need to sell boats!! Their clothing booth
was packed with people all day! The funny parts is...with
all the fountain owners out there, they could sell tons
fo clothing. Its a no brainer...easy money.

I have that same jacket. My wife won't be seen with
me if I wear it. She says I look like a queer in it.

FeverMike 02-28-2007 10:31 PM

Yep agree the Fountain logo wear line is outdated! Reggie needs to get a t-shirt lesson from Skip @ Cig!

US1 Fountain 02-28-2007 11:12 PM

tough crowd. :drink:

blownincome 03-01-2007 05:42 AM

Go buy one of those towels from Fat towels, and see what they charge you. You'd be surprised. My buddy is a distributor for Fat towels, and I know what they cost.
Then go and have it embroydered and see what they charge you for all those stich counts. My sister in law does embroydering, she told me that with all the stitch counts in those towels, they would have to charge at least $20 to do it.
So if you add the "cost" of the towel ($75), then take it to be embroydered, another $20 or so, how much do you have in it??? Plus your time and travel??? I'm sure Fountain don't pay that much, but remember they do these by the thousands, so I'm sure they get a quantity discount. No matter how you look at it, they're selling them to make money, if they did'nt, they would'nt sell them.

Did anyone ever price a Cigarette shirt??? You could buy 3 or 4 Fountain shirts for what you'll pay for a Cig shirt. Now that's a rip off IMO. Go price one of them and let's see how many of you guys complaining about the Fountain appareal would pay those ridiculous prices for the same kind of shirt if it had a Fountain logo on it. Don't cost any more money to put a Cig loco and word on it, than a Fountain logo and word. Remember, it's all in the stich count.

Sounds like your wife has a real problem. Or maybe you need to take your pants back from her.
My wife and I have the same jackets, along with some of the leather racing jackets, and nylon racing jackets too. Sometimes when we go out together, she'll ask me why I'm not wearing my Fountain jacket, cause she wants to wear hers, and she says that now we'll match.:D
It's great having a wife that's supportive of the boat we own and proud to wear the clothing. I often see guys wearing Cig, Fountain, Apache, etc jackets, and I ask them what kind of Cig or boat do they own. Most of the time they say that they don't own the boat, but they just like wearing the jacket.

Dude- Nobodys debating the wifes support on the brand of boat we all own. Fountain sportswear sucks! Plain and simple. As far as there jackets go- are you kidding me? Way too Cheesy for me. They do need to take a lesson from Cigarette. My 2 cents.

Maybe then you need to "design" your own jacket. My $.02

Downtown42 03-01-2007 11:23 AM

I have the black satin coat. Beth steals it from me every chance she can. She did get a yellow and black heavy coat from Fountain when we bought the boat.

Well you spend 100K plus for the boat, what's another 100 bucks for a beach towel. The GF got me two, in red, when I bought the boat. and thoughtful!!!:D

good point. Where in the heelll did Fountain get that cornfield chik from?????:(

tomtbone1993 03-01-2007 01:36 PM

This is my point I turn 30 next week. I have three other friends on my lake alone who are all first time Fountain owners. All of them are around my age. Fountain is drawing a younger crowd because of the afford abilty factor. We don't want to wear the same clothes our parents would wear. I don't care about the towels nor the price. I want to see Fountain step up and invest in their future repeat customers like myself. Tom

Its great that you and your wife enjoy the clothes that
Fountain sells.....but as you can see, most people don't.
I for one would purchase quite a few articles of clothing
if they had something decent. As it stands now, I have
2 polos (discontiued) a wind shirt & 2 jackets. All the styling
is pretty lame, but thats all they have. I check out their
web sight quite often looking for new clothing. I'm pretty
much always disapointed. I can't find 1 t-shirt that I
like. They have no decent sweatshirts. Sorry but the Black
satin disco jacket that they've had since 1989 went out
of style long ago. All their other coats have checkerboards
all over them. You tell me why the Cig clothes booth
in Miami was packed from open to close, begining to
the end...and their stuff ain't cheap!!!. I tell you why,
because its nice, its quality and its in STYLE!!
As for as takin the pants back from my wife...If
she was wearin clothes that came out the 80's
and a Farah Fawcett hairdo... I wouldn't want
to be seen with her either!!!

Oh yea...I don't think price matters much, most guys
would pay for somthing decent..with styling from this
century.:)

fountainfevr 03-01-2007 05:56 PM

Me and my wife check the Fountain site often Praying that they have something good to buy but they never have anything. The only things we have are the huggers and the hoodie. I agree Baja and Cig are kickin Fountains ass in apparel.

Jackhammer405 03-01-2007 07:52 PM

My wife just boats naked!! So she could care less.

JH, U. should hook up w/ DT 42 & cum over 2 Charlevoix this Summer! Think about it! Wrink:D

FIVEPTOHH 03-01-2007 09:14 PM

I am not really complaining about the price of the towel's but you have to remember that they are just that, a towel. And it is a overpriced one at that. Dont get me wrong it is very nice and heavy duty but mine is white and if I acutally used it I know for sure it would get stained with something so I leave it in the cuddy for a pillow or blanket.

I would have to agree with everyone that the clothing sucks. The only thing I have that I like is the blue sweat shirt with the chrome fountian logo on the back, and the grey T-shirt with the logo and FOUNTAIN name on the back. Other than that they should donate that crap to the Salvation Army and get the tax write off because I dont think anyone in their right mind would ever buy any of that crap.

Fanatic 03-01-2007 09:14 PM

I have been saying this for a couple years now. Who do they have running the clothes line? the person doesn't have a clue what they are doing. He needs to have a conservative, yet high class line of clothes that compliment both his boats and his customers. Most of the clothes are either outdated or "tacky." HUGE MARKET that needs to be tapped!

Thus the "tacky" statement I made.
