Default Drive advice

Hey guys I need some advice on my drives.I am currently running a 1991 Fever, low X and no steps.I installed two new XR drives with DWP and two 600 HP engines.I am running right around 86 not fully tuned yet. After reading some posts on the board I learned that DWP can cost top speed and high water presures and since I have a low X I really dont need the LWP.Is the loss of speed true?I want to gain some cheap top end without spending the money on shorties. What if I were to plug the LWP and add a Hydromotive nose cone.Would this gain a couple of MPH?Has any one tried this?

Thanks Nordic95

How about some extension boxes with rise built into them?

Are your drives turning in? Turning in made a huge difference in my 1991 32.

No they are turning out. How much did you gain and how about docking maners and handling?

I had a 29 with twin 454/420 the boat ran 82mph, I added nose cones and did not gain any speed, but they did look good.

I sold it and the new owner turned the drives in, ran it in salt and told me that he picked up 600 rpm and 11mph. It sounds like BS but he had a gps. This was with 27 or 28 hydros. I was at 4500rpms and 81mph with those props. He was turning 5100 with the same props.

Ever Fountain I have seen here at LOTO had props turning in. Makes the boat run fast but I think it makes the boat a little more flighty a speed but that be my fault. Formula does not like us turn the props inward on their Fas-techs because they feel it is a safety issue as far as handling and docking.
