The best trim is whatever is fastest. On the newer step hulls, you shouldn't need a lot. 3 is neutral.
But I don't think you should ever even start the engine(s) with your drives out past 5.5 if I remember right. Bad on the parts.

Go by the test report and paly around with the trim from there useing a GPS and if possible a fuel flow meter to see what the best trim is.
Remember a certain trim level really depends on the boat load, water conditions and the type of ride you are after.

I'd imagine it's going to vary boat to boat. The indicator on the drive will never be in exactly the same spot as it was on another boat.
when running this weekend, at 5.5-6, i bumped it up a bit more and gained speed. at 7, i lost speed.
