Default Trim

Iam running a bravo one. At WOT what is a safe drive trim level? I've seen where some have poster 4.5-5. Just wondering how high is to high before damaging the outdrive. Thanks.

The best trim is whatever is fastest. On the newer step hulls, you shouldn't need a lot. 3 is neutral.

But I don't think you should ever even start the engine(s) with your drives out past 5.5 if I remember right. Bad on the parts.

Run at 5 and raise it a touch, you'll feel it loose grip. 5 is about it for a stock setup. My 93 no step 35 was at 5 also.

when i had a stren-jack on the fountain i could trim to 5-5.5 before speed fell off.i have removed the stren-jack and can only trim to 4or4.5 on the trim gage.

Go by the test report and paly around with the trim from there useing a GPS and if possible a fuel flow meter to see what the best trim is.

Remember a certain trim level really depends on the boat load, water conditions and the type of ride you are after.

I'd imagine it's going to vary boat to boat. The indicator on the drive will never be in exactly the same spot as it was on another boat.

when running this weekend, at 5.5-6, i bumped it up a bit more and gained speed. at 7, i lost speed.
