Default P5Xs lift 35' to New Speeds

I just returned from an early morning run. What a great experience! Last week, I ran the stock 32 Bravos to 95 at 5600. Today, ran the stock 31 P5Xs to 98 at 5600. I did have some chime walk on one pass. Don't know if I had it trimmed out too much, or if I hit a little rough water?

I would like to see the engines turning 5800. Is it worth turning the engines to 5800, where the dyno sheet says my top hp should be? Anyone had any luck labbing a P5X?

Triple digits are right there....................

congrats man..post your dyno sheets. How much difference in between 5600-5800?

Just checked the dyno sheet. There is 11 hp difference per engine from 5600 to 5800. I spoke with Tom at Hydromotive and he calculated my slip down from 16% with the Bravos to just over 10% with the P5Xs.
There is a recreational lab they do for $385/prop to true the prop and get additional rpm. Do you think that I would gain any speed?

If you picked up 200 rpm with the Lab....and your slip remained the same, 102.1 MPH. But the question is are you picking up the rpm by slipping the prop and not gaining mph or by the prop working more effectively. Thats always the challange. You can remove cup or take out pitch and get rpms. But that doesnt always mean you will go faster. I worked with Tom before, he knows his stuff. Julie and Matt, and Brett all can make suggestions that will get you that final adjustment to get what you want. Just remember, everything is a trade off. What you get on the top end, may cost you some where else.

Congrats, nice job. Talk to Hydromotive about sharpening the leading edges to get you the extra few RPM and that last couple MPH. Don't go too thin on the blades as you will then begin to give up durability and life on the prop. That century mark may be just a tweek away for you.

Thanks for the feedback. Tom and I talked about a recreational labbing of the props. He said that would just true the props rather than a professional finish which takes the prop to very thin edges. If the props were out of balance this would help. Of course, can't guarantee any increase in speed. Don't want the props to go past 5800 because the rpms drop to what the rpms are at 5600. But after speaking with Tom, it seems that the labbing usually only nets 100-150 rpms.

As I understand, the P5Xs don't have a diffuser ring. These are stock prop, so far.
