No actually it's the right name for the U.S. Naval Fighter Weapons School which is where the name came from, not some boat.

Monstaa,

You told me, with absolute authority, that Joe Sgro wasn't racing in an Outerlimits anymore. But he won last week at Cowes with Mike Fiore. What gives with the bad intell, my man. As a "barstool racer", I was counting on you.

:Whatever:
I don't know, they always remind me of the big Chris Craft cruisers of old with that big bow pulpit they got molded on the front :party-smiley-004:

Actually Top Gun is a calling name for NAS Miramar since 1972.
In boating thereīs only one Top Gun..a Cig.
and the Top Dog is Apache41 for me at least.
So what if theyīre old and look old, they look Right and hasnīt stopped winning yet.

Fanatic, no problem the Henry T looks good with a 14-71 roots sitting on the intake bay... :-)
A Henry A even better :party-smiley-020:
or a 69 Camaro or fill your favourite here ______

Why I was racing in a Fountain ?
Quote Smokey Yunick ; "if youīre a racer you canīt afford to be brand loyal".

And why is the beak (which I dislike) smaller on the racers, If there would be allowed enough power no beak would be needed or ?

But I have to agree Fountains bottoms sure are fast...just wonder who did the development for them...Fabio Buzzi or someone as surely Reggie didnīt progress much in the first 20yrs.

Donīt get me wrong I give credit to Fountain that they run with 496HOīs in a 35 close to 90mph even in our not so salty Baltic as similar powered (merc420 or 502s no matter which power both tried) Scarab38 KVīs only did about 60mph.
It also has to do with the Drives...TRS vs. Bravo XR and Herings but still...low power for such speeds.
If just the deck and the beak would be off/different even I would say Hail to the "new" King, but the beak surely gives some lift to the hull otherwise it wouldnīt be there.

I love the haters who when told the facts (or read them) start taliking about Regie's hair, height, money or throw out bs and spin - basically making it personel. Meanwhile none of those guys have done enough to wash Reggie's car let alone his boat.

MF makes a great boat and Fountain guys say that. It's beautiful and fast - we say that too. It also has it's problems and costs more than anyone with stupid money could afford and we say that too. It's also not the boat Fountain is. Somethings are better, somethings not. But Fountains are faster. Cig, Outerlimits and others have to bs more about speed and performance to sell their boats. Numbers 1 on the side, or gps speed runs.. And we ALL know they do - we talk about it a lot. So why not give Fountain it's due and be a grown up??? Show it the respect it has earned. You want to buy an Outerlimts or Cig or Donzi - knock yourself out. If Reggie calls these other guys on their marketing lies, why not agree or just shutup? But no, you guys who have an ax to grind come here a float the junk you do. Makes me laugh..... Grow up. Oh yea, walked away from a Donzi 38 last weekend at 92..... Past me once, circled around to do it again. Pissed me off so I moved the throttles a bit. He know's who's faster now, but it was a pretty boat and it did sound excellent.

As an ex Fountain, now Cig owner, I can say the Fountain was fast and had great looks. The biggest reason I changed was for ride. On our lake it is like a washing machine and you can not read the waves. They come at you from every side. My 35 cig weighs more and rides soo much better than 35 or 38 Fountains. I have not been in a 42 or 47 can not make a comparison there. Other reasons were cockpit room, cabin room and cockpit depth. The wife feels safer in the Cig and that make my life better. They are both great for boats and there is not a better bang for the buck than a Fountain. The cig is a heavier, stronger boat in my opinion. It is not as fast but there is more to life than speed. Also, there are 50 Fountains on the lake at any given time it seems like and most of them have very similar paint jobs and is hard to tell them apart, there are now 5 Cafe's on the lake, 2 new this year, and they are all different. There is something to be said about originality also.
