It is a great ad. It gets your attention, and that is the key! The Fountain haters will even be more angry with Reggie now.

I like it when you talk the talk and walk the walk. Forget the Cat Killer mumbo jumbo, this ad is backs up his claims in a craftful manner. Good for Reggie, if it wasn't for Fountain things would be boring.

If you don't have anything good to say about anyone come and sit next to me. I love it when Reggie talks smack. Its all good.

Did anyone notice in the August issue of Powerboat the results of there tests? Now, I don't know much about these tests, but I do think they are done at the same time (day), same water, driver, throttleman, etc. All the boats have the same horsepower and drives I beleive. Here are the results as I read them in Powerboat:

Cigarette 44 Poker Run - 10,700 lbs., HP1075's, Top Speed @ RPM 132
Fountain 42 Lightning - 10,300 lbs, HP1075's, Top Speed @ RPM 128.6
Skater 399 Vee - 4,200 lbs (w/o engine/fuel), HP1075's, Top Speed @ RPM 133.2

According to these numbers the order fastest to slowest is 1) Skater, 2) Cigarette, 3) Fountain

It seems to me that Fountain just puts the biggest, most powerfull motors in his boats to say he is the fastest. With euaul horsepower and conditions it would seem the Fountain doesn't fair quite as well.

I'm sure there will be no rebuttal because I really dont believe any of the manufacturers he attacked would be as TACKY and CLASSLESS to stoop to such a childish level... well written...please.... to be honest it's exactly what I would expect out of him and the marketing brainchild's building boats in the back-woods.

It's Sad because the right side of the Ad is actually impressive.... there's alot of offshore-racing sweat equity for one page.... but the fact that they tainted it in history by swooping down to a new low..(or drastic measures) as I heard it called.... really blows for the legacy of those race teams...

Instead of congratulating their own racers on achievements and the history that ties them, they are openly defending themselves of cheating, insulting every-other top manufacturer in the industry, and showing the world how bitter they really are that Mike did not succumb to their game and left them holding their own DiK in their hand.....

IMO Since this feud started Reggie has brought more attention to OUTERLIMITS than they ever could on their own.....

Where is this genius marketer I keep hearing about?
Why would a production manufacturer backed(owned) by one of the strongest forces in the industry (merc) play a game with a company that builds 40 boats a year (or whatever small number is)????

I'm sorry in the long run.... Mike will benefit way more than Fountain has to ever gain.... and that IMO is not.... BRILLIANT!!!!!!

They should pay more attention to building better boats and running a profitable company and less about the competition....

Just My 2Cents.

Don't believe everything you read. Taboo's 42 Fountain 1075's is 136+ :D

oh yeah :chimp: with a full cabin to boot unlike the other 2.

Dave P, can you shrink your signature down some so we all don't have to scroll wide for 2 min to read the posts? :throw:

Do you own an OL or just Mikey's boat *****? :party-smiley-020:

Maybe 128.6 mph (only!) is what they were able to get out of it that day. Conditions are one thing, but setup is another. Prop pitch, X-dimension, gear ratio ... were those all the same as well? I'm not trying to defend the Fountain, just saying that all those things "being equal" also matters. A lot.

The 136-plus figure seems pretty high. Were you in that boat at that speed? How was that speed recorded ... GPS, radar? I'm not saying, definitely not saying it isn't possible, just exceptionally fast.

Who cares about the stupid cabin. The Cigarette still weighed more. It goes on weight not if it has a cabin or not. I noticed in the article they didn't say anything about Skater or Donzi. Maybe by those two have kicked his butt on the race course more than once.:D:D
