Are you going to change the X? It's a WHOLE lotta' work for maybe 5mph if you do well. I've never done box's on that hull but the best I've seen is 5mph when we raise the X a couple if inches. However.... they look pretty cool sitting on the trailer!

You would probably get better results with a pair of -2 shortys for a lot less work.

When I spoke with Fountain, they recommended the -2 shorties. They told me not to put boxes on my single step.

A good person to talk to would be Joey Griffith, he's done just a "few" very fast Fountains.

I have -2 Imco shorties on my 32 single step with Joey G's 572's...runs over 100 but will not carry the bow properly.....I was also thinking of adding boxes.....hope there will be more info on this thread....I will be watching. Just my 2 cents worth.

How does your boat handle rough lake conditions like side rollers, crosschop, etc. with the shorties in comparison the the standard length lowers?

I've got boxes on my 35. Running Hydro Quad IV Xs, stock Bravo's w/speed cones, blueprinted hull, and bone-stock 502 MPIs and I run 72 all day, every day. Best I've ever seen, though, was 75 on a day with a good 1-2 foot chop...with 4 people aboard and a 1/2 bag of gas.
