I run 4 optima blue tops in my 38 lightning. I have 6 JL 10 W3 subs, a 1000/1 JL mono sub amp and two 500/5 JL amps. I charge them with a 4 bank Dual Pro Marine Charging System. This is the best charging set up I've ever had. I highly recommend it. Here's a link to one like mine, but I paid less for it.

If you have a big system with lots of subs and run your batteries down over the course of the day, the gel batteries are a must. They can handle a lot of abuse and will charge right back up. I've tried everything and this is the best set up I've come up with so far.

good luck.

I have aftermarket charger on the boat. Always works great.
