Find out the distance between the input shaft CL and propshaft CL of a standard drive (22.5?). Subtract the distance the propshaft is below the running surface at neutral trim.
That'd be true X, telling where the inputshaft/crankshaft CL are located on the transom relative to the running surface ahead of the drive. This also affects trim leverage.
It's been a while but I think my X is 19.5 which would put my engines 1.5" higher than yours and with a -1 lower my propshaft CL is 3" below the running surface of the boat effectively giving me an adjusted? X of 20.5"
I think it's something like that. Doesn't really matter because no way in H*** I'm changing it!

I'm lost

My drives cl are about 4 inches below now with the 1' spacers.(all side water pickup holes but 1 are above center line of boat bottom.) So about 3 stock. so -2 will give me 1 inch below the bottom cl. But my drives are 34" apart. So about 19.5 is my x too. minus 2 will be about 17.5 x right?

Great boat, it looks beautiful, i'm happy for you getting your first boat at 24, and a Fountain too, great choice,
I was 42 when i bought my first boat, a 20 ft. Celebrity,
it was great too.
good luck .

Wrong way. -2 is added to the 19.5 for an adjusted X of 21.5"
Meaning, with a stock drive your crankshaft CL would be 21.5" above the running surface....so to speak. It just tells manufacturers where a stock drive propshaft is relative to the hull. Now with the shorties available you can put the engines lower for better CG but still keep the propshafts higher.
