Default 2000 29 fever question

Hello, just wanted to get some opinions. I have a 2000 29 fever with a 500 efi and 1.50 bravo 1 outdrive. Bought this boat from Bob T a couple of years ago. Love the boat! I have it in the classifieds, but if it does not sell soon, I am thinking of an upgrade here and there. What does the 2" shorty do for this boat, for you that have experience with it? I am guessing it will slow planning times. What about midrange and WOT? Need prop change? I am running a 26 bravo 1 39mph@3000 rpm and 76mph @ 5300 rpm. These are speedo readings. Any replies are appreciated.

Probably wont do much if anything for you....other than complicate props and driving. Get a whipple if you want to UPGRADE.

I will be anxious to hear what you do to your boat because I have the exact same boat as you. A 2000 29 Fever with 500EFI.

With that being a 2000, the setup should be less aggressive and a shorty might help you out. It will be harder to plane though.

2" shorty will definitely make it more difficult to plane and like tblrklakemo said it will probably cause you more problems than anything. Careful with a Whipple though, I inquired about putting a Whipple on my '01 29' and was told the engine had to many hours and a supercharger would destroy it. I bought a labbed 29 pitch 4 blade bravo from Bob T, I run 78 @5000 rpm now, picked up 1 mph WOT from the 26 pitch but went from 41mph @3500 rpm to 52mph @3500rpm.

Thanks,
Mike

You have a great trouble free set up, that out runs any other boat with same size and power! That being said if you have the need for more speed, a whipple will be the most increase for money spent. As for raising the X dim, Fountain makes them pretty aggresive already?? Any higher and you will blow out on turns and have hard time planing off.

Cool

Thanks for the replies. I appreciate the advice. May just leave it alone. It sure is nice going out and turning the key and enjoying. One day I may go a little faster, but when I do i will stay stock. I just relisted. If it does not sell, oh well more GOOD TIMES!!!
