What Model Do You Have And What Do You Use To Tow It?

They that looks just like my 02, I pull it with a 03 Denali with a 6.0 and it does a good job..
NICE LOOKING RIDE Both of them!

If your like most boaters and you stay with it very long, you will get a bigger boat. I know what your thinking.....not me, Im happy. I said that 5 boats ago, and their are plenty of others on the board that have moved up the size ranks. Buy the biggest tow vehicle you can afford. I bought a F350 in 2000. Have had 4 boats since then have had this 38 Fountain for 2 yrs. and only one tow vehicle. Not sure what your ramps are like, 4w drive is nice, some of our ramps get alge, and slime on them and its nice to have. You sacrifice fuel mileage, but it can save your butt in a pinch. You have to weigh your needs if its also your daily driver.

And this is what can happen when you tow a 38' formula with a 2007 tahoe it said a 30' but it is a 38'. He said it strated fishtailing and he tryed to power thur it but just lost it.
He is one of the gang at the lake and he is not a big drinker but all it takes is one and you can be under.

I can't tow a bigger boat safely with this Suburban, so I will deffinately be upgrading the tow vehicle before then. The suburban which is 4x4 does a decent job of towing.

2007 Tahoe 4.8 when going from storage to Lake (Havasu)

I towed the 27 out to Havasu this year with the Tahoe. The short wheel base and a good cross wind made it feel unsettled. The motor did great though for a 4.8 and got 13.5 mpg compared to the truck's 10 mpg. The truck is much cooler to tow with though:cool:

05 Dodge Ram 2500 CTD. and based on todays news release I might have to think about buying another one. sorry no details other than the brief email article i recieved.

DETROIT -- Chrysler LLC today said it is offering 40 percent off select Dodge Ram pickups as part of its August incentive program for dealers, who were stunned a week earlier by the company's announcement it was getting out of the leasing business.
Chrysler is calling its August promotion "Shop 'til You Drive." It is intended to steer customers who leased in the past into retail incentives by lowering monthly payments.
Jim Press, Chrysler co-President Jim Press said: "We are leveraging the move from leasing to retail purchases to offer our customers the best deals of the year and make buying as affordable as renting.
"We have re-packaged our incentive spending typically spent on leasing into retail purchase packages to lower monthly payments on select vehicles from the Dodge ...

Don't know if the pic will show up. But I was at the detroit boat show this spring and came across a neet way of storing and moving your boat. If you live on a beach or have a shallow area out back that doesn't allow for docking this maybe somthing worth investing in.

Hey Bomann-
Did the hypertech do anything for the gas mileage? Truck has plenty of torq, just wondering if you gained anything in mpg. I heard some say yes some say no, just wondering your results.

I tow my 29 with a 2008 Dodge Durango. I have the Hemi, Tow Package and the higher gear ratio which puts my towing capacity at around 9,000 lbs. Truck tows fine, the load is just a little much for stock suspension....it bucks a little when I hit a bump in the highway. My next upgrade will be a better set of shocks/springs which should help with that.

nomomoney 08-04-2008 02:02 PM

I pull my 38 Lightning with a 2008 Ford F-450.It does the job very well.

I LOVE those trucks! If I didn't have to use mine for dual purpose (daily driver / tow vehicle) I would already have one.

mcraymond3 08-04-2008 07:24 PM

3008 f650 six door w/ 300 hp CAT, 38ft Fountain TE w/ trip 300's. Truck tows it pretty well. :D

Racerngr1 08-04-2008 08:41 PM

I think you may need a bigger truck to tow your 38. Those 650's are just badass. The real test is how would it tow my 29.

Hi James,
I will be up at Havasu on the Labor day week end, also going to try to get the boat up there a week or two before, but don't have an exact date yet. Waiting for Lisa to get her foot out of a cast.
